Wii Update questions

i just bought a wii, and i know nothing of it, and i going to the shop channel it says i have to update, its not a modded wii, its just a regular wii i bought from wal-mart, so i was wondering if the wii is able to break during the update.

No the Wii wont break during the update, ive updated mines and nothing has happened to it, so yeah its perfectly safe to update. but if you DO have a modded wii, chances are it will stop functioning
