No i think you can. I'm going to the US on Friday and i want it confirmed that you can use a US wiimote & nunchuk on a uk wii?

Yeah, only the Wii software are region locked, not the hardware. So you should be fine with a US Wiimote and Nunchuk connected to your UK Wii.
