I was browsing around other forums and news sights when i stumbled upon something thats starting to get Highly irritating and its time for gamers to unite and take a punch back before games as we know it take a turn. We all know what the esrb's job is, they do it well, then we know its a law where stores cant sell to minors, so what the hell is the problem with these people why wont they just leave rockstar and take two alone, the games they make are no more than just like a movie that you can watch, Man Hunt 2 i put on the same pedestal as the SAW movies, but you don't see these same groups urging the movie companies not to show these movies, or saying that some stupid kid, or adult might see these movies and start to repeat the jig saw killer!!!!

but all i know is that if they f up my gta 4 im gonna get really f'in pissed. What else do they want games companies to do? they have every right to make the games they want just like the movie industry has every right to make the movies it wants. Im sorry that there are some sick and twisted kids out there that would watch or play these and repeat but its not the video game thats the problem it was already a problem in them, and its not the f in companies job to babysit and be a role model for your stupid kid.

I think as gamers we need to start protesting this shit, and demand that the government and these stupid lawyers and organizations back the **** up or at least treat every other entertainment media the same as they are treating the game industry, ie movies, i think that if you are going to ban M17 games and over you should ban R rated and over movies from the theater and places like wallmart, target, best buy and other stores like this and start selling those movies like they do pornos in a small shop, hidden.

Why cant parents just be parents and if you don't like the game just don't buy it!!! If your child goes and gets it hisself and is playing it in your house then that just shows you have no control over your kid and that you are the problem not the game companies. Also don't just say don't do this and expect a kid to follow, you have to guide them and help them understand why you don't want them to do this particular activity. I really don't think video games are the problem i think its the lack of real family values in america that is the problem. You don't see these boycotts in places like japan, china, or canada.

Parents get up off your lazy asses and get involved in your childs life and know what types of things that they are into, control what types of things they get exposed to and stop trying to blame everyone else for your lack of parenting skills!!!!!

If parents, politicians, and conservative groups are concerned about the effects of violent video games on our youth then instead of stricter guidelines applied by the ESRB or outright banning, why don't they focus on the media outlets that are selling them to children?

It wouldn't be a bad idea to insure that these media outlets actually abide by these ratings instead of ignoring them, and apply similar laws and regulations like that of cigarette sales as an alternative. Keep in mind that it is not illegal to create AO rated games, however console licenses prevent AO rated content on them.

Likewise I simply see it as yet another attack on our 1st Amendment Rights.

there is a law that makes it against the law to sell m17 and up games to minors. it was passed a couple of years ago. If im not mistaken its not the consoles licenses that is preventing AO games its the stores won't shelve or sell them period thats the problem. But with all these precautions they still feel the need to protest, the only thing thats going to make them happy is if every one makes a mario, or sports game and nothing else. But what i find funny is that no one tries to ban these shooters exp the military shooters with more realism than any thing. I guess the government is opposed to banning their number 1 recruitment tool ha. i be more worried about a kid getting hold of a sniper or pistol and go off pretending he is fighting terrorist than any thing else.

Sh|t i agree with u 100%, we def should protest, thats wat this generation is missing, well have been missing since the 70's. People need to speak up and be heard, if we dont we will continue to have to take wat we are given and also be more and more controled by these large companies and our own goverment. Granted yes i did blow it up a lil by stating all that but its true. To me it starts with the people at the store that sell the game to we the people. They need to put there foot down and make sure the right age of people are buying these games...yea it sounds ridiculous but who the hell cares, ID the person when they want the game...and yea ofcourse there are gonna be the ones that mod there systems to get it without buying, but u know wat thats when parents come into play....

Thanks, and you brought up a good point. when people mod their consoles or games its not the companies responsabilty any more. They are doing something which can be illegal, and is not intended by the creator of the system or the game. that in turn doesn't constitute a ban or re rating of a game. They have been modding games since the nes and before that. i remember seeing versions of super mario bros running in the nude or the treasure island dude doing the same. the companies cant stop it and there is really nothing any one can really do about modding and pirating.

My question is what are the parents doing while these kids are playing these games? who is the one buying there systems and games? What kind of games are your kids into or playing? IF they are doing it themselves then where are they getting the money to do it? As a parent if you cant awnser these questions then its not the company that is doing wrong its you. You as a parent are the only one that can control and monitor what your kid is doing.

Take this for example my girls 8 year old son has a trust fund set up,and then also has a savings account that his grandmother puts money into every check, hell i think the little ****er got more money than me. lol now he can get a game when ever he wants to but, who has to get the money a parent, who has to take him to the store, a parent, so for me or his mother, or grandmother not to know what he is getting would be our fault not any one else. Parents got to stop just giving there kids money dropping them off at the mall and saying go get what you want. and then, parents need to know what they are buying when getting games as gifts don't go buy a game and you find out it has violence or sex in it and then try to protest. you bought it you messed up not the companies

and now i believe ManHunt 2 is gonna cause even more problems cuz they are saying that "hackers" (i hate when they use that term) found a way into the uncensored version of the game, but only on the PSP...FOR NOW...but i do think this will just add more salt to the already opened wound.

See what i think people don't understand is that if they win this its only a matter of time before they go after other types of games. and on and on till alll we are left with is kid and family games. Thats not what gaming is about, it about artistic creativity, whether its for the family or not.

Another thing they don't understand is that its not gamers that are doing this its non gamers who think video games are just for kids and that adult content has no buisness in games. But what they fail to realize is the majority of gamers are 17-35. now you take that at buisness standpoint and you will see why the majority of games are geared towards the mature crowed, and have mature content in them.

But we also lose a lot of money. We can't pay congress the same way Hollywood and the Music industry do. So they attack our games until we start paying them. The reason you can play GTA in your state is because of the ESA. They even fought against such states as Florida to keep Diablo II in stores. exactly...now a days u cant even touch ur kid our child abuse will be knockin at ur door, damn when i was younger my pops would make my ass cherry red with his belt...i agree if u dont set that fear, no respect will be shown.

Child abuse is funny now they wonder why kids go shooting up schools, and being bullies, because they lack a proper ass whoopin when they was kids. Yea i forced you to come in here and post on this thread, and its people like you that keep there mouths shut that give them room to do these things.
