Still on the Search for Wii?

snaked my Wii today in Burlington, NC

it was my first time actually going out and looking for a Wii

got outa class at 1130 and went straight to gamestop, walking in I was not expecting to actually get one, just was looking around the store poking all the empty wii boxes. At the register was a lady buying something and she lifted up her bag and I could have sworn it said Wii on the box inside. I went up to register and asked if they had any left, dude said one, i asked him if i could buy it because I could not believe it was this easy because I had been reading this thread for a while and it seems its taking people so long to get one. So i bought the wii and zelda. Couldn't beleive landing a Wii was that easy.

Sorry about the [really] late response. Didn't stick online too long after making a couple posts.

It came in close to 1pm into a Gamestop on 1960 and Veteran's Memorial. 3 units. They then trickled into surrounding Gamestops in the area. Sold out within 10-15 min. I got really lucky.

Like I said, if Best Buy didn't get them today (weds), definitely try them tomorrow. They sell out quick so you can't just expect to get a tipoff while waiting at home and arrive there on time, gotta be on the spot or near as they come in to stand much of a chance. (last week a shipment of 15 sold out in 20 min). Wait around stores for a while following a delivery truck.

Wiitracker is also *claiming* of Walmart shipments on the 8th and/or 9th for the area.

Hello all, this is my first post.

I gave been getting great information from this forum since my wii search began last friday and upon searching (fri, sat, tues, wed) I have finally found a Nintendo Wii today. (wed, jan, 3) Thank you all for the advice & information that has helped me on my 4 day search. Therefore, I will try to add my 2 cents in that will hopefully help you all locate one also, b/c I feel that I need to give back to this community that has helped me so much.

First of all I live in Greenville, SC and I started my Wii search last
Friday (Dec 29) & was going to buy one on Amazon.com (since it said on the website about selling them that day around 9-11), but instead went to the following stores in my area:

Best Buy- (around 10:45) No wii, last shipment last WED
Target- (" " 10:50) No wii, last shipment yesterday
Toys R us- Got there as they were opening UPS shipments but no wii
Circuit City- Employee told me they had wiis but were gonna sell them on sun
Gamestop at the Mall - (around 11:30) Told me they sold last one 5 min. ago.
Gamestop #2 & #3 in strip malls- no wiis

Sat 12/30

Best Buy- (10:15ish) No wii & all I saw was a wii remote. (wish I bought it!)

Circuit City- (around 10:30) Now this time the same guy tells me that they are not going to sell them on Sunday & just assumed they were holding them since he thought it was weird that there were wii's in the back.(OMG!)

Gamestop #2 - (Around 12 pm) I went & checked iTrakr & it tells me this one has wiis so I go & check & yep they got wiis in the morning but sold out.

Walmart, Best Buy, Toys r us, Target, other Gamestops - No wiis

Tues 1/2

Read on here that they should be getting some wii's since monday was a holiday for UPS etc...

Toys R Us - 12:30ish - They got a bunch in the morning but sold out quickly.
no luck finding at BB, CC, Target, Walmart, Gamestop, etc...

Wednesday, 1/3

Today I feel hopeless & that waking up with 4&1/2 hrs. sleep is not worth it & am kicking myself for not going to Toys R Us earlier yesterday, but i go to

Bestbuy & Circuit City & Target - as it opened around 10am but no wiis

Toys R Us - (11:15ish) I'm thinking that it's useless anyways since they JUST got shipments yesterday, but I go & am about to leave since I see none & this milf's taking her sweet a$$ time paying for $400 worth of toys for 2 kids. But I ask the dude working if he had any wii's & he says "we got 1 left." I can't believe it, but he brings out the box & I pay for it, which finally makes me realize that my search is over & that now I can finally play instead of search. The guy told me that he got 3 this morning, so I was in luck.

Gamestop @ the mall (11: 45ish) - I go to look for extra controllers & I see the UPS guy delivering packages. I see 2 kids waiting for something at the register so I figure out that they JUST got wiis at that moment. They get in 4 systems & the guy working @ Gamestop seems to know the UPS guy & he tells him that there is one left & asks if he knows anyone who needs one. So then he starts calling his friends to see if any of them need one. (bastards!)
I ask the guy if he had any controllers, but he quickly replies no & I feel this awkward tension (I think the guy was hoping that I would leave the store because of the one unsold wii.) ("My precious!! My precious!!")

There you have it. When I finally find one & don't need one I quickly find another one. I guess that's how it goes sometimes the "finding when not looking" thing. My advice is to not call stores since they WILL LIE to you & the best bet is to actually go, but even if you go you should ask a couple people b/c some people don't know anything & WILL tell you that they probably get wiis in March.
I read on here somewhere that Toys R Us had some great deal going with Nintendo that gets them a goog hook up for wii's, but this kinda seems to be true, since ToysRus.com is the only website that actually has them online sometimes, which I found out from Wiitracker.com. Also I would never believe that any stores gets wiis 2 days in a row, but no ToysRus did!

To some it up here's some tips/advice

-check stores around 10am-12pm (10:30-11:30 seems to be the money bags)
-don't call, but actually go there
-ask them when they last got shipments (find patterns)
-keep an eye on UPS/FedEx trucks & when they generally deliver 2 that store
-ask friends to keep an eye out for you esp. if they work near a game store
-use wiitracker.com, itrackr.com, this website (particularly this thread)
-ToysRus was the best bet for me, but something else might be for you
-do not resell them on ebay! (One reason we have such a hard time!)
-keep contributing info & help people here even if you already found a wii

-just know that It will get easier to find these things & if you can't have one right now it's not the end of the world cuz you WILL find one sometime.

YOU GUYS. itracker WORKS. Use it to your advantage! I checked it periodically after a very unsuccessful wii search this morning and sure enough, at around 3:35 I did a check up and boom a new listing was added. Called up the target and they said yep we just got 5 in, i'd hurry up. I flew out the door and since It was not the closest target to my house, I made it just in time. I picked up the last Wii after they were only on the shelves for about 10 minutes. ITRACKR is not a joke! The best 2$ i've ever spent!

in other news: who would have thought that once you finally get your hands on a wii yet another hunt would begin? the wiimote is a pain to find. even harder than a wii. my advice is if you are going out looking for a wii and see wiimotes is to buy however many you will want once you get the console. i cant find them anywhere. but at least i got one controller, i just really want to play against my bro and my dad...

Just a reminder for those in the UK still searching. Tomorrow is Friday and every Friday is the main "new stock" day for pretty much every store in the country that sells games - GAME, HMV, Virgin, Tesco Extra, etc (which is why our release dates are almost always on Fridays). I overheard the staff in an HMV I passed on the way to work this morning telling a customer that they were expecting to have some for sale tomorrow, as were most other London HMVs.

My past experience suggests that some chains get their deliveries Thursday night, while others get them Friday morning. Depending on the chain you decide to camp and your location, your best bet will either be to be there for opening (check the opening times for your local store on their website), or to go in at some point between 9 and 12 (probably difficult if you have a job). I took an early lunch break last week and managed to get mine from GAME at 11AM.

For what it's worth, I hear that the HMV on Oxford Street, London, got a large shipment in last week on Friday and didn't actually sell out until Saturday. The UK has always been more of a Sega/Sony territory in general, though - PSPs certainly far outnumber Nintendo handhelds on my morning train. However, regional stores maybe haven't had as much stock - I have a friend in Manchester who's been really struggling to get one.

No it wasn't that Target on Peterson, I went there the day before looking for one. It was that newer one on Addison near California. I would check them out today if you're looking for them, it seemed like the people working there were clueless. I'm not sure, but there might be a couple left from yesterday? You never know. Although two people snagged it when I got mine too.
