Well just to prove me wrong, itracker just added Circuit City to my area.
Not that they have any in stock.
If I insult them on here some more I wonder if they will add Best Buy and TRU?

TRU especially would be great. With the rumors that I hear of BB not even having any wii's on order, they take the prize of store most sucking it right now.
I think that the wii shortage is all a big conspiracy to make us buy PS3's. I think that all of these stores realized that they had PS3 orders they couldn't cancel and that they would have a hard time selling them when they arrived. So they didn't order enough wii's in order to create a wii shortage so that we would give up and buy PS3's instead. DO NOT GIVE UP! DO NOT GIVE IN!

Let's face it: Getting a Wii is pure luck. Be at the right place at the right time.
All the trackers are useless as far as I am concerned. How good is itrackr, if it doesn't work? EBGames is "delayed" at best, Target is inaccurate, BB is not available. I have verfied itrackr information here on many occations and it's not accurate, not even for Targets. I have tracked forums entries from people who "just" happened to find one at Target and reported a stack of 20+ and the tracker wasn't even updated in 30 days. I went back every few hours. Not updated.
I walked past a stack of at least 30 PS3s at the local Target and, just out of curiosity, pulled up itrackr. Guess what? "Not in stock".
Noone knows shipping updates for any store. Wii seeker is not accurate either. Reported shipments on Jan 3rd-5th for Target and they got nothing, WalMart for today. Nothing.
Speaking of living in the 21st century where you can locate a person anywhere around the globe with an accuracy of 1m, but, heavens no, retail stores just "don't know" what and how many shipments they're getting in. What a bunch of crap.
Sorry just had to vent...

So, in all honesty I wonder if some of the shortages we're seeing are due to Nintendo's drop shipping wii's instead of sending them to company warehouses. I'm sure it costs a mint to deliver these things (they are a bit heavy). And I also wonder if the reason that we aren't seeing them at stores like BB and Target, for example, is because Nintendo is beginning to transition to shipping them to warehouses instead (maybe this is the basis for the Jan.15 BB rumor?). I hope that this is the case and that Nintendo hasn't decided to screw US customers for other countries.

Targets on itrackr are hit and miss. Some Targets suck and haven't updated in weeks (yes, I'm talking about you Springfield, PA), others are amazingly reliable. A lot of people on this board have had success with itrackr, so it can work. Wii seeker is run by a team of cheap psychics, of that I am convinced.
The Northeast has just gotten a bit screwed lately. Why exactly that is, I'm not sure. I don't know if it was "our" time around launch and now middle America is getting theirs. All I know is that the NE is not feeling the Nintendo love lately.

I hope.

I spoke to many, many retail employees and managers and they all unanimously said they have never ever seen a craze like this for an item. Not for the 360, not for the PS3, not for "Elmo", Rubic's Cube, Gold - you name it.
It is just supply and demand. I was hoping that Wii would be more widely available after the holidays, but it seems even more impossible to get one. A few weeks ago, you at least knew when and where some shipments would come in - now everyone just seems to be mute. No more announcement in flyers. Nada.
Before Christmas there were at least 150 people waiting in line in front of ONE Target here and they got 15. That left 135 HARDCORE people, who definitely WILL get a Wii and are not shy to waste any effort to get one. Those people are still looking and let's assume they're still looking for it at the same Target. Even if they would get every week a shipment of 20, then it would still take 6 weeks to fulfill the demand. Meanwhile, the word is still spreading and even more people are looking for one (let's call them the FOLLOWERS) - perhaps because they played one over the holidays.
I just can't see a mega-shipment of Wii's coming in, because most stores are not equipped to hold 100 Wii's. For most stores, the Wii is a product like any other and stores like BB certainly makes more bang for the buck for an HDTV than for a Wii.

I'll second that Sprocket. I for one, normally only play games on the PC, but this new concept that Nintendo has come out with has really made me decide to purchase a game console. Too bad it has to be in such short supply.

I hear ya. I am not interested in any PS3 or X360. I had an XBox and sold it after 2 weeks, because of the poor game selection for consoles. Yep, I played "Halo" and it bored me to death. Shoot, duck, kill, cut scene. Yawn.
The only reason why I might still get a 360 is the Windows Media Center Extender for Vista. And maybe "some" games.
The Wii is different. I can play the Wii with adults, with my partner, with friends, with my mom, with the whole family. That is exactly what makes it so popular, exciting and high in demand, because Nintendo finally discovered the market of adults playing console games.
Plus: I have seen only a handful of people who did NOT enjoy their Wii across the boards and those are usually the "Halo" generation who enjoy dumb, but good-looking shooters and not for the quality or fun factor for a game. Most people seem to truly love their Wii. Plus add the low price and there you have your Wii-mania.

Well good call Kristi I didn't even check for the chuks. I bought two at Target. They had about 5 left.
My contact who went to target will be here shortly. I'll update with the rude story later.

I am frustrated by the trackers, but I think that itrackr showing a stock at Target (and I am hoping Circuit City) is accurate. How quick it updates and how many shipments it misses is another question.
I am guessing that the stores really don't know when they are getting shipments. Nintendo and UPS(?) know, but they are probably not telling because the stores do not want to get swamped by everyone in a 20 mile radius turning up on the day they get a shipment. I would guess that the stores could get waybill numbers from Nintendo and track their shipments, but do not bother for this reason.
Knowing the right numbers to put into the UPS tracking system would be very educational!

Got my Wii today.
Here's what I did. I live in South Jersey, about 3 hours from NYC. Me and a few friends decided to stay up until about 2:30 AM, and take the train to NYC. When we got off, we walked around for quite awhile and took some pictures and had fun. Then we made our way over to the Nintendo World Store.
It was 6:15 AM and we were about 40th (overestimating) in line. Surely enough, when 9 AM rolled around we were let inside to retrieve our proudly earned Wiis.
Here's another tip. I asked a staff member from the Nintendo World Store how many Wiis they get per day and he said "anywhere from 100-250". From what it looked like, these numbers were accurate.
My recommendation: go to NYC. Yes, it costs a little bit for transportation, but it is so worth the experience. The city is beautiful at 5 AM . Good luck, Wii Hunters!
