It was 6:15 AM and we were about 40th (overestimating) in line. Surely enough, when 9 AM rolled around we were let inside to retrieve our proudly earned Wiis.
Here's another tip. I asked a staff member from the Nintendo World Store how many Wiis they get per day and he said "anywhere from 100-250". From what it looked like, these numbers were accurate.
My recommendation: go to NYC. Yes, it costs a little bit for transportation, but it is so worth the experience. The city is beautiful at 5 AM . Good luck, Wii Hunters!

Congratulations! And kudos for getting your wii "hardcore" style!
Is the limit 1pp? I'm just wondering if some of wiichatter's who are near NYC could grab one for themselves and someone else on the board?

Now that I think about it, If I wasn't working I could be in NYC right now. My uncle commutes there to sell produce every weekend. He gets there friday night and my sister lives there.
Unfortunately they both have early mornings so I would feel bad hitting them up to stick around 3 hours for a "silly game" as they would probably put it.

Could you go tonight for tomorrow morning? I guess it is a bit of a drive though...

You can let them play with it a bit and they wouldn't think it is "silly" anymore. One of the main reason why I think the Wii is interesting is that everyone in the family can play.

Get her a gift certificate or something so she can go shopping or get lunch (or breakfast) afterwards. I'm sure she'd do it. You seriously should ask!

Ha! I agree! We're having a friend over tonight for a "Wine and Wii" party. He's a rather stuffy English PhD type who doesn't get electronics, let alone gaming, AT ALL. Yet, he's interested in the Wii and wants to check it out.

And you know that this is incorrect? My Target (Philly) hasn't gotten any in for over 10 days. Some people haven't had any in their area at all for WEEKS. It's entirely possible that what itrackr is telling you is true.

Actually I was able to check out the Zelda demo for the Wii at my local GameStop by giving them my driver license and credit card.
One of the demo was for the fishing part, kind of interesting how it is done where you use the remote to cast the line and then the nunchucks to pull it in. I enjoy the reeling noise played through the remote and the slight vibrations to enhance the fishing moment.
The 2nd demo was for the actual fighting sequence in the game. That part I have problem with because it seems like the remote isn't well calibrated (or messed up). Swinging was fine, but trying to use the remote to help line up the bow for the shot was almost impossible. I was like 30 degree off. I am chalking that to bad calibration or just the demo environment.
Overall, it was a fun experience and I couldn't wait to try out Wii Sport.
So if you are waiting for a Wii at your local GameStop, ask to try out the demo.
