yah im pretty sure bb and target are holding them for the 21 and I have no idea what this TRU store is(maybe comp usa???) Craigslist does seem like a bad way to go but the seller is in my area with reciept and unopend box.. just 100 dollars over price. I CANT WAIT TILL NEXT SUNDAY its to damn far away. i would drive hours in any direction to get one of this at regular price..

TRU is Toys R Us. Everyone forgets about them, but they are an official wii launch partner and they get a TON of wiis, at least as many as Target and BB.

I'm not sure that employee was right. TRUs get them a lot here on the East Coast, I'm not sure why they wouldn't get them elsewhere. Unfortunately, employess at stores lie, a lot (especially at EbGames/GameStop). Have you posted a Chicago-specific thread on the Amazon forum? Someone on there might have an idea. There needs to be at least a Midwest Thread over there. I used the New England thread to help a guy over here get a wii.

I just wanted to let you know that a guy on this board recently had success by calling around to Ebgames and GameStops in sketchier parts of Chicago. Somebody else reported that this worked for Detroit too.

Kristi1696,mercinary :
Although you two haven't personally helped me in finding a wii (still wii-less) I would like to send my thanks to you both for sticking around and helping others.
In my area Ottawa, Ontario Canada
Walmart (randomly)
Bestbuy (despite camping sightings over thursday night) wii's are random
Futureshop (see bb)
Toys R Us (No shipments for awhile)
Eb Games (Still fullfilling preorders)
Microplay (no response)
Blockbuster (not for a couple of months)
The Source (no response)
Rogers Video (no answer)
Awkwardly BB is having a midnight launch for World of Warcraft on the 16th so it may be a good time to check if they have wii's then Ie recieved that day to be put on the shelves that night (night crew)

Ok, after hunting today, I finally got some facts. I went to Circuit City, they had 3, opened at 10 AM, I got there at 10:12, and they were all gone. In my frustration, I decided to check EB Games. The guy there told me he had none, but just as I was about to leave, he started to give me the low-down.
I told him about Circuit City, he said he dropped his room-mate (who works there) off there this morning, there were never any Wiis. He told me most of the chain stores lie, and lie often. He told me there was never any recall, and that the reason for the rare-ness of Wiis is due to severe back-order. He told me nobody (and he meant nobody) is going to have them at least until February.
And that's when I got the real bad news. He told me, however, that he is getting one last shipment before February. He told me he is getting one Wii tommorow. One, and one only. He told me it'll come off the truck anywhere from 10am-8pm, and there will be only one. Tommorow just so happens to be my birthday.
Let's hope a Wii is my gift to me. I'm not giving up. I'm not surrendering without a fight. That Wii will be mine. I'm going to be there at 10am when the doors open, and I will remain there for the entire 12 hours, or whenever the truck arrives.
But the real message that I wanted to bring is; It has been confirmed. The stores lie to you. They lie because they want you to come anyway, to buy even if there is nothing you want. The only sure-fire way to get a Wii is to literally stalk every UPS delivery to a store, and even then, you're not 100% guaranteed.
Good luck, I hope the end to my mission draws near.

I feel your pain. I have a Classic Controller and 3 games no wii and am tempted to kijiji, criagslist or ebay them but I know the day I do will be the day I see them in stores so I am not going to fall into the temptation and I'll just pay retail when I see them in stores eventually. I have my ps2 and socom to keep me company before I get a wii.
There should be no justification for paying more than retail.

yah i completely agree with you about there being no justification for paying more than retail but it seems as though the wii wont be readily avaible untill febuary? im willing to pay 90 over retail to have it NOW but im having second thoughts. Damn those people who buy multiple systems and dont even use them to play rather make money on them.

You see in the long run you will look back and wish you didn't as that money could have been used for a game or accessory. Feb or even March is not that far away. I mean have you been waiting since Revolution was announced? To be honest I just got on the bandwagon the day of launch when I mistakenly thought it wouldn't be sold out as it was pretty much a quite launch. I am desperate too but it makes days go buy faster with anticipation. The search ironically is part of the fun for me.

Yah your right in the long run i could use the money for a game or something else but being desperate about something i havent played makes me go crazy. if someone i knew had one, no big deal. i just want to try this shit and see how it is.

I find it disgusting that people purchase more than one just to sell it. If I had the cash, I'd purchase two and sell for retail to someone on these boards.
I can help anyone who needs it as well. I just need a zip.

I would too but then there is shipping which could also be considered over retail in a way.
I actually need two:
one for myself and one for my sister (lives away from me)
however stores are limiting to one. (I am doing a xmas gift a month thing so come nov/dec I won't be so broke)

I was just at toys r us here in danvers mass and they had a buttload of wiimotes and classic controllers (no nunchucks though). when I was paying for a few wiimotes the guy told me they just got a huge shipment of accessories and wiis themselves. anyone in the area might want to give it a shot

first off, craigslist isn't that bad. You can find some for practically retail. Don't forget, if you buy one in a store, you have to pay for tax. You might be able to find one locally that ends up being just the same as in store.
Also, has anyone heard anything about Circuit City? Instead of their usualy 'out of stock' on their website, it now says 'not carried' for all my local stores.
