Thank you!! My weeklong search is over!! Just got home from Kmart (in Baltimore Metro area) with the Wii. The last one that they had.
So here goes the boring story of my Wii search to inspire those that are still trying to find one. Went to Target at 7:10am on Sunday before Christmas and was 10th in line. Then at 7:15am, a guy showed up and said what are you doing here, they already gave tickets to people who camped out all night at 7:00am and they just went to McDonalds to come back when store opens. Disappointed, drove to bestbuy and TRU and saw loooong lines.
Decided to go home and sleep and not worry about it for a month.
Come last week decided to start looking again. Stopped at the Electronics Boutique in the mall during lunch every day around 12:30pm. No luck. Stopped at Target 3 days in the evening around 7pm and no luck. Keyed in the code 207-25-0001 in the Price scanners (they are located throughout Target stores) in Target stores and saw none in the Stockroom either. Went to Walmart a couple of times around 7pm. No luck. Went to TRU 3 days in a row around 7:30pm. No luck with Wii but found Tons of Wii remotes and quite a few Nunchuks. Bought myself a pair even though I didn't have a Wii.
So today during my lunch break, stopped at EB store and no luck. Then saw another store in the mall called Power Gamer. Asked the guy. He said they are taking orders on Friday & Saturday for Bundle of Wii plus One game for $399. I said no because he said they wont have them in store but they are taking names and phone numbers and will call back soon (Figured that they would have guys camp out on Sunday and then sell for a profit of $100 a piece).
Then in the evening right before I left work, checked this forum on my cellphone. Saw someone mention KMart. I was like that's it, no one has mentioned KMart in any forums that I saw. Drove to KMart. Not a bird in the Home Entertainment department but saw the Wii sitting right there in front through the locked Glass window. Walked around and saw an employee walking towards the department and asked him if he worked in the Electronics section. He said Yes. I said do you have any Wii's (I have seen enough of empty Display boxes in other stores to ask that question to confirm). He said Yes. I said Can I get it? He opened the shelf, took it to the register and tried very hard to sell me the 2 year extended warranty. I refused. He tried even harder explaining that Nintendo only has 90 day warranty. I politely refused and paid for just the console at the regular price. After I got it in my hands, I asked the guy if they had any more and he said that is the last one.
Here is the amazing thing. Not one person was in the department when I bought it. Looked like everyone forgot about KMart!!
Well, I gotta go and hookup mine now to make sure it works!!
Here's what I would recommend that you do and you will find yours within 2 weeks if you don't want to camp out over the weekend.
Call Toys R Us every day around 11:50am (shipment comes around 10am-12:00am) and you will eventually get lucky. Look for lesser known stores that might sell it or call at least 3 EBGames/Gamestop stores everyday around 12:45pm. Try stopping at KMart/Walmart/Target stores on random days and you might get lucky one day.
Remember, do not pay a penny over regular price!! The supply will eventually catch up within a month or so if people stop paying profiteers who camp out and don't let others buy at regular price.
Sorry for the looooooong post!! Good Luck and wish me luck that mine works when I hook it up :-)
