i think the best thing to do if you really want one is to call your nearest game store like 5 times a day..that's what i did and i finally got one in december..

I got one today for a mate after ringing my local GAME store once and discovering they had just had a delivery. Was down there with a Wii in my hands in 10 minutes . Definitely worth keeping an eye on GAME stores.

I just thinks its crazy that I haven't seen a Wii yet besides the one I bought the day after Thanksgiving. I was actually contemplating not camping out for 5 hours, and just picking one up when I started seeing them. I'm glad I camped. Good luck to anyone who is still looking, keep being persistant.

Been considering looking for a Wii for a while, and my wife asking me to get one basically spurred me to have a go at it... I mean... girl wants games... must. get. games...

I tried and failed hitting up a Toys R Us this last Sunday. Showing up half an hour before opening apparently didn't do it as the clerk who popped his head out to disperse the line I was in said that people camped out there a good 2 and a half hours before there, and he gave them claim tickets.

Today I decided to spend an hour or two after work today hitting up all the Gamestops/EBGames around my office and all the way home and pump each clerk for information.

Stop 1 - EBGames: Nice guys. I think they recognize me since I show up there and place all reservations there since it's 3 minutes from my work. They tell me to call daily after lunch since that's when their shipments arrive. Also sold me their last Nunchuk since they explained it may be hard to find a spare when I do find a Wii.

Stop 2 - Gamestop. Clerk tells me he used to own a Wii, says it's not what its cracked up to be since he doesn't have friends to play games with (...okaaaaaaaaay...thanks for sharing.). His store is cleaned out though of every accessory too. He gives me a specific date and says to show up Monday before they open since they'll get them the night before. (Wait I thought they didn't get deliveries on the weekend). Afraid to ask him in case he gives me more personal stories, I escape out of the store.

Stop 3 - Another Gamestop. "There's no point in calling us. We're sold out of Wii's within half an hour of receiving them. Just come at noon and just wait an hour or two. Should be some tomorrow. If not tomorrow then Friday." He babbles on about how there's no Wiis in the United States right now since they just launched in Europe (???) and they're all going there. Seemed like a good lead until he tells me that Wii Play is no longer made and hasn't been available in the United States since February...

Stop 4 - Toys R Us. This detour was made because this last Sunday ad specifically advertised copies of Wii Play as well as Wii... And of course there's a few Wii Play on the shelf. Fought the urge to go back to the previous Gamestop and show the clerk. Maybe his talk of there being Wiis tomorrow was also him talking out of his rear.

Stop 5 - Target. Just because it's next door to TRU. Nada. But they have Standalone Wiimotes.

Stop 6 - Gamestop. Decidedly the last one since the only other two within the vicinity require driving west through downtown or south past my apartment. They tell me the first Gamestop I went to should have them (... I say nothing). Another clerk understands what kind of info I seek. He tells me they're random shipments. Call in the afternoon around 2-3.

Hrm. Seemed like I made more stops. California Bay Area Gamestops seem pretty dry. Not sure if its worth it to try Walmart and Best Buy until Saturday night/Sunday morning. Any tips?

I don't know if people are having a hard time finding wiimotes, nunchucks, or wii play...

But I bought them all off of newegg.com. I suggest looking there if you are having trouble finding any of the controllers or even wii play. I received the shipment about 2 days after I ordered it! For those who don't know, newegg.com is very reliable and VERY quick.

I got my Wii at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. I just stopped by on the way home from class in the middle of the week and they had plenty. The wii's aren't coming to Walmart as part of there nightly shipments. They come by ups, fedex, or dhl, and they never know when they'll get them. It's the same with Best Buy unless they're in the Sunday Sales Ad. From what I've been told Walmart gets them in more often than Best Buy. It isn't a bad idea to keep calling or stopping by Walmarts.

itrackr is pretty accurate from EB/Gamestop and Target. I didn't pay the 2 bucks. I just used the free tracker. You could just call and visit everyone else.

BTW, the Gamestop or EB that said you wouldn't be able to find extra controllers and the such was BS'in you. They do that to everyone who comes in looking for a wii. The reason why they're out is because it works on some people. Guess they're trying to meet sales quotas or something. I was told the same thing and went to a WM and Target afterwards while searching and they had plenty of controllers and stuff.

I can't remember, do some of the GameStop locations even tell you if the Wii is in? I thought I heard a sales associate say that they stopped telling people over the phone because by the time they got there, it was gone.

Went to my game stop today they had them in stock.

when I bought my wii at an ebgames, the guys there wouldn't tell me how many they had left, saying it was classified.

Anyone looking for one in the Bay Area, California. Every single Gamestop/EBGames got a shipment TODAY of 8 to 16 units.

Gamestop by me in Utah had 3 left, said they got 12 in this morning, just got it! Now i cant wait to get home and play!!!!!!!!!!!

For the wii without internet can you do anything other than play games?

That's about it. And I checked Itrackr.com this morning and said YES! Got mine and started playing Wii Sports and Wii Play. Still have to get my Nunchuck...

Maybe we should look for it in 2008.
