The weather will decide whether or not I will get my Wii tomorrow. >_>
Edit: The weather was good so I ended up with one. ^_^ There are about 3 left at Wal-Mart on Edinburgh and Roe Ave. in Gander.

Hi everyone. I am trying to get a Wii for my girlfriend for her birthday in 3 weeks. I have been trying to track one down for about a month now with little luck. I was almost considering preordering a bundle from gamestop but I dunno if I am ready to do that.
If anyone lives in southern Orange County California, and knows the best places to find one (basically who gets shipments the most frequently) I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Your best bet is to hit the local Wal-mart stores usually between 6pm to 9pm, whenever they start rolling the skid freight out onto the floor. During that time the unloaders have generally completed the daunting task of rapidly unloading the truck, and begin there second phase of stock.
Each store is a little different depending on the store manager however the process is actually quite generic. Paying attention to when stores start dropping skids on the floor helped prevent my own encounter with the "out of stock" syndrome of the Wii, and was able to take part in the 15min "in-stock" window simply knowing the time they would hit the shelf.
If you don't shop regularly enough at your local Wal-mart then simply make a day of it, and probably the same could be said for other mass retailers such as Target as well. If you don't want to hang around just call and ask when how often they receive shipments and the approximate time they bring there freight to the sales floor. I don't recommend calling and asking if they've got something in stock as a lot of employees won't check and simply assume it's out.
Wish you the best of luck!

I just ordered one today through CostCo.com. Basically, I had RSS feeds from the following Wii tracking sites open at work through Outlook:
http://wiitracker.com/ (this is the one that got me the Wii)
http://www.xpbargains.com/wii_locator.php
http://www.nowinstock.net/wii/index.php
I set Outlook to give me desktop alerts. You can also try http://www.itrackr.com for in-store stock, although I didn't find it too accurate in my area. I would subscribe to the three tracker's above, because they all track different online stores/bundles. But, when you get an alert, go to the site right away. The CostCo bundle I bought sold out in 5 minutes.
Also, the Target in my area is getting some Wii's in on Sunday morning. So, maybe you might have some luck there. I found the people at both Circuit City and Target to be very nice when I asked when they would get their next shipment in. Hope that helps!!

I just went to ebay to get my wii. Worked out well, I got my Wii that day. But it costed me $450. so, if your willing to spend that much, but that was back a while and I'm sure you could get one brand new for much cheaper.

Man, you make it so tempting to pick up a couple and resell them on there. lol My only problem is I don't like the idea of dirty business, and to me, that is pushing it.
The problem is not production or for most retailers it's not even the stock. They seem to be updating there shipments daily and a constant battle to keep them on the shelves for any real amount of time. Yesterday I went into Wal-mart and noticed they'd changed the propaganda disc and had 8 consoles awaiting purchase (first time I've walked in and seen them without hunting), so they've might of stepped up production and supply once more.
Just simply call and find out the shipment dates and the time they bring the stock to the sales floor, and you would have saved yourself $150. :|
Congrats on getting the Wii though!

I think I'll be a little smarter with my purchasing of the next to come system but it was honestly the cheapest one I could find. It actually costed $400 but shippping to it up to $450. So that sucked, but at least there was no sales tax. they don't tax ebay items.

Hey man, as long as you are happy it really doesn't matter, you simply got one.
(btw, I'm not dissing ya or anything of the sort, it's worth spending extra to get it asap, obviously you thought the same since you did bid that price as long as you have it to spend, however I'm all about saving money and love to see others get good deals too. lol)

Has anyone tried ordering a Wii off of gamestop.com? Do they actually send it on the date that they advertise? I ordered the Wii Play bundle ($349) and it says that it is a Pre-Release and will ship on September 7... However there is a lot of text at the bottom that makes me think that it won't, such as:
"Supplies are extremely limited and shipment from our first allocation cannot be guaranteed."
"Orders will be shipped on a first-come first-serve basis."
"Placing an order does not guarantee shipment. We reserve the right to cancel or modify any orders."
Anyone have any experience with them?

Apparently, there still aren't enough Wiis to supply the demand. Eventually the phase will wear off, but it won't be anytime soon.
I still can't believe that in December, I thought there would be plenty of Wiis by January, since the holidays were over. I was very wrong, the demand was still huge.
