I'm in Chicago and having hard luck tracking one down... I've called all the places that supposedly have them on iTrackr but no dice. I'm thinking of dropping in on Target today though. When do they usually get deliveries on the shelves?

For all the people calling on the phone:

You have to physically go to the store and look/ask people. A lot of this is word of mouth- I was able to find one by going out on a Thursday morning (most stores get stock on Thurs/Fri) at about 10 am. I went to every Target/Walmart/Best Buy/Circuit City in a 10 mile radius, and was able to find a ton of Wii's at the 4th store I hit. My parents were able to find a Wii the next day (Friday, about 2 pm) at a Best Buy in the same area- they had to ask a sales person who handed them a ticket.

Many stores are not advertising the Wii, and some not even putting it on the floor, because they are trying to avoid long lines, and the riff raff that comes with that. Just go into a store and ask politely. If they do not have any just ask them when they get their shipments. I honestly think they are readily available right now. In the last week I have seen 20-30 per store I went to after getting my Wii- and that is compared to seeing ZERO the past year.

i just got one. it's from Virgina. what i did to get one was to ask my parents to ask everyone they know to look for one. eventually someone found one

THis is my first post and I know very little :-) But have talked to a few folks and they say the wii is a blast so i am going to try and get one. i want to connect it to my AV receiver in my home theater - i assume this will work out well - let me know? I am in the Chicago area so if u know where to find one, let me know that as well.

Lastly, i could probably search for this but can someone tell me what the must have accessories are? I just don;t know what I need and don;t want to buy stuff and then find out I really did not need it.

For locating a Wii - use www.wiitracker.com or www.wiialerts.com. Use store websites that display in-store stock (such as Target or Best Buy) and try to find out delivery patterns on the major stores.

For accessories - an extra wii-mote (get the Wii Play bundle) and nunchuck are standard, and a classic controller is a must-have only if you are going to be downloading virtual console games (classic NES, SNES, sega, etc). If you have an HDTV and want to play games in 480p you will need the additional HD component cables that aren't included with the Wii. Normal/traditional TV hookups are included.

I actually had some luck right after my post! I went to the same Target I called yesterday (the Addison Mall Target) around noon today and they had about 6 in the display case. I am now a proud Wii owner!

i wonder about the calling & asking thing too - but that's the only way i was able to find one.

the first 2 days i was looking, i physically visited at least 15 stores that had at some point sold wiis, and none of the stores had them. a manager at target told me to just call, but to call at least twice a day, as they get shipments at random intervals. that's how i ended up finding mine, by calling several times a day. and when i found it, it was the last one left. so i think it just depends on the area as well as the individual people who are working at the stores.

the trick is you first have to sell your soul to the Devil... after that you still have to bribe 5 people dres silly and camp out for a couple days and tada... they give you a wii just to go away...lol

I can't believe it but I was actually able to snag a wii from Walmart on New Years. However, I went today to look at games but they were pretty much out. I think they must have gotten a large shipment in cuz even accessories gone

chgo posters, have y'all tried craigslist ? I got mine there, the prices have dropped. It's still extra over retail but at least you have it without the hassle. That's what I did.
