Well I just happened to be calling around one day everywhere CC, BB Target Walmart and then Toys R Us and the guy said oh it's going to be in out Sunday ad and I asked how many they were getting in and he said 54 odd number but I was like #50. I got there at 9:40 and they opened at 10:00. It was a day we had bad weather and snow or it may have been more crowded. I was lucky to get one and everyone at work said they couldn't believe I got one. I didn't know they were this hot of an item after being out for so long. But I would say Toys R US 1st. If you can't get to CC till 11:00 they will probably be gone just my opinion. Good Luck!! Rose

Finally got one on eBay about an hour ago (new - 280 plus 40 shipping, lol. But at least it is UPS groudn with tracking and shipping confirmation) for 320 total, the system itself being 280.
Paid a little below average at least from what I was seeing. Most go for 300+ then the 30-50 dollar shipping.
Amazon's lowest new one is over 380!
Then of course they are unavailable in any retail stores.
The best tip on eBay is to look at all Wii systems available and find the one with the lowest activity (if there are several ending at the same time, then you have an even better chance). Choose one, and then set how much you are ready to bid. Save your bid until near the end. If the price is too high, move on, it will probably only go higher, as there could end up being a quick bidding-war. If it's still below (remember, you must outbid by 5 bucks), put it in with about 30 seconds left. Luckily, all other bidders at that time will sit there with their bid entered in and ready to hit enter, but not know you have just bid.
And always check out the seller. I saw one selling this things for 220 and 20 dollar shipping... and they had 99 available! Yeah, the seller had no feedback, and for some reason I couldn't find him again the next day, lol.

I'd just like to say thankyou to the good folks on this board and especially to those who posted the tip about Toys R Us getting them for sale today. By reading this thread I knew that both Circuit City and TRU would have them today. I also read the tip that CCity would probably have less and that TRU was a better bet. So this A.M. I got to TRU early, lined up in the cold MA weather and snagged a Wii!!! What was ALMOST as good as getting one, was seeing the huge pile of Wii boxes they had. They probably had 50 or so...all gone now.
Thanks everyone.

My mom is currently on a mad dash to Toys r Us to get one of the 8 Wii's they got in today!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks to anyone who posted about checking Toys r us, I would never have thought to look there and would probably still be on a mad search if it wasn't for this forum

Finally got mine after searching for two weeks and calling two Gamestops and a Circuit City.
For two weeks no one had one and if they did I called at the wrong time and they were gone or hadn't gotten any in that day.
They said that some weeks they get a case which contains 3 Wii's and some weeks they get two cases, so 6 Wii's and some weeks they get nothing.
To be honest I see what Nintendo is doing, but they should really be shipping out more to stores. The demand is there, they just don't want to sell a million Wii's and then the demand be gone. Ok understandable, but there is a huge demand now why not kick up the production or shipment of Wii's to stores. Also if they plan to produce a new model of some kind, maybe an HD version then people are going to ditch there SD Wii's and buy and HD version I know I would.
Another thing is when I bought mine I asked how many they had and the clerk said one. I am thinking this could be true, but she told me that they are only allowed to say they have one Wii which IMO is stupid. If I wanted to buy all the Wii's they had I should be able to. I know it is to be fair, but Nintendo isn't being fair by not shipping enough Wii's to stores.

Congrats on getting your wii. However, i have to disagree with you that nintendo is deliberately holding off shipping wii's. From a business standpoint, it is a big risk to take because by not shipping enough wii's, they could potentially lose customers who are willing to pay for the wii right now. These people who want wiis and can't find one for the longest time has the possibility of losing interest and end up spending their money on other stuff. Also, think about it, nintendo has already sold or shipped over 23 million wiis, which is double what the ps3 has done and about 5 million more than the xbox 360 in just over one year and four months. So I don't think it's that hard to imagine a shortage of wiis. The demand is really just that high and i think it's a bit unfair to say to nintendo that they are doing it deliberately.

Ok so if they aren't doing this on purpose then what is it? Not enough people to produce them? Not enough resources to produce them? What?
I for one think they are doing it on purpose and it is because they want the demand to stay high. If they know the demand is high then they should just be sending Wii's out willy nilly to stores for people to buy, but they aren't. Some stores don't even get any Wii's for a week or more which IMO is stupid, unfair and just down right outrageous. Yeah by not sending enough out they could loose peoples interest and to be honest if I had to wait a year to get a Wii I would probably not buy it but I was lucky and have only been looking for one for about two weeks and finally found one.

well yeah, it could be those things that you mentioned but who knows actually.
if you're in business of course you want to keep the demand high but not at the cost of making profit. i mean demand will just be "demand". you don't earn in business by just keeping the demand high. i think nintendo would rather earn money from their consoles rather than hinge their success on the possibility that the demand for their product will be sustained.
wii tip: just read this over at kotaku. sam's club will be having a mario kart launch party on april 26 but they'll also have 15 wiis available. so if youre looking for a wii and have a sam's club membership, mark your calendars.

let's get this thread back on track. it seems not many people are looking for wiis anymore.
anyway if there are still out there looking for a wii, it is listed in the toys r us ad for april 20-26.
