That's what I would prefer, if possible. I wonder if the big stores in Bergen County, NJ (which are all closed on Sunday) will be giving out their stock tomorrow (since they should have gotten it today). Unless they got it earlier, which would mean they are already all sold out. Anybody have any info on this?

I've just gotten excited about the Wii in the past few days. I didn't realize the demand was still so high. I would have gone and camped out today and easily gotten one. But now I'm stuck waiting. Is it still believed they only are sold on Sundays? Is the next day to buy not going to be till the 24th?

I was 25th in line for 24 units at Best Buy. I probably would have gotten one, but friends of people in front swooped in at the last minute and took one of the reserve tickets.
Evil. Most important rule to life, no cuts.
I kept calling everywhere I could after that today, I still wanted one. Everywhere was out again.

Some of you guys may want to do that. If so, head over there right now and camp out - you're chances of getting a Wii tomorrow morning are currently around 95%. But does anybody know why this ticket policy is the way it is?
|
The reason for requiring people to stand in line even though they have a ticket is twofold. First, they want to make sure that only those who are willing to stand in line/camp get a ticket. Otherwise there will be a riot on their hands if people without tickets show up when the store opens, only to see these johnny-come-lately's with tickets in-hand. The purpose of the tickets is to ensure that the first "n" people in line will get a Wii. Without a ticket system, it will be a dash-n-grab free-for-all.... which is not only dangerous, but uncivilized.
They will also barricade ticket holders off from the rest. On launch day that store had 100's of people in line and there were reports of 100's of people cutting in line. There was a near riot when people who had been 200th in line were suddenly told they were 400th or 500th.
By handing out tickets early and barricading ticket holders, they are ensuring that things will remain orderly.
Camping out 11 hours for a Wii a week before Christmas is well worth it IMO. If didn't already have one and wanted one for my Christmas vacation/holiday, I'd be there right now... having a good time with the other knuckleheads willing to wait in line.

For this coming week there isn't going to be a large wholesale shipment to stores. It is going to be catch-as-catch-can. You can try running around every day to all the stores in your area, or pick a store (Target would be my recommendation) and try to find out when they get shipments.

I got to my local GameStop an hour and a half before they closed last night. They wouldn't let us start camping until the store closed, and as soon as it did, the line filled up in about 10 minutes. We all waited from 10PM last night until 10AM this morning. I was number 7 out of 9 and successfully got my Wii after a long cold night. Congratulations to the people who got one and good luck to the ones who didn't.

I turned up at downtown at the Westlake Center (for EB Games) at roughly 6.30 this morning and ended up being 10th in line. They had 9... but luckily two of the people ahead of me were teaming up and lining up at two different stores. They kindly got their Wiis from the other store, which bumped me and another guy up to getting a Wii!
So, my tips for you are:
1) Ask at the EB Games in downtown Seattle when they're next expecting a deliver, and for how many.
2) Queue up at 6am (or earlier) on the day they say.
3) There are two EB Games in Seattle, the smaller one in Pacific Place only got 3, but no-one thought to line up there until later, so might be worth going there instead. Also, I believe they let you inside, so it's warmer!

I was number 20 out of 20 all night at BB, and teh same thing happened with the cuts... i wanted to beat some a$$. I was 23/20 when they happened to pass out tickets. Then, i noticed teh old lady in front of me who was talking to the managers because she didnt get one either. she was realllly upset, and the managers could only say, sorry we werent here all night, we cant do anything about it. Then a kid who was hanging out with the lady all night (about number 17) gave up his ticket to the old lady. She started crying and hugging him, and telling him that her grandson is gonna be so happy this christmas. It was hard to watch. Christmas brings the best out of some people.
