I still think people are too critical of Nintendo and the Wii currently.
It's still a relatively new system, especially for consumers who haven't been able to find one until the past couple months. Hell, even *I* was only able to find my Wii roughly a month ago.
Yes, there are a lot of shitty games.
Yes, there are a lot of ports.
But I think as the Wii matures, more developers will realize its capabilities, and we'll see more promising games.
And I think the development of WiiWare HAS shown that Nintendo cares about the Wii's online presence.
Give it time, jerks.

Oh, and stop buying the shitty games, for christ's sake. I see threads on here all the time of people posting garbage like "R/C HELICOPTER SUPER FUN FLY" and saying they bought it and so on.
Just stop buying that crap, idiots.

ever since playing socom 2 online, i've noticed the lack of voice chat on wii games. it really helps when playing with buddie's/clan's. moh-h2 would be all the better with it. on socom 2, annoying people would get booted rite quick!!!

I think that there is way more than five things wrong with Nintendo. These were all focused towards the Wii, not Nintendo. WHERES THE PART ABOUT NINTENDO KILLING THE EARTHS ATMOSPHERE???

I somewhat agree and disagree with this.
I believe the use of friend codes do hamper the online experience but it's a safety protocol for the kiddies so no arguements there.
Alot of people focus way too much on the negatives of Nintendo's online procedure. There are positives. Take Mario Kart Wii for example. It's practically lag free (the minor hiccup or disconnection occurs but not frequently) and your not kept waiting like 30 minutes for a game. Nintendo are taking small steps with it's online.
Games...I agree, way too many ports. Hopefully in due time it will change.
I don't think they need to make new franchises, simply because they could ruin one in the process. SEGA are prime examples with Sonic. The franchise was great up to Sonic Adventure 2. They took a risk and attempted to branch out new franchises and unfortunately failed (Shadow worked till they gave him his own game).
As for the focus of controls, Nintendo do need to work with third parties to enhance control features. After all, there are only a handful of games which do this.

One of the things that REALLY annoys me about people, is that they can't accept that there are people who like different things compared to others.
No there are NOT "alot of shitty games"... What you have to remember is that the Wii isn't designed for gamers specifically. It is designed for all ages and people of all areas.
The goal that Nintendo had for the Wii was to bring people together to enjoy the wii as a whole. There are games for all ages....Just because people my age or your age don't enjoy a certain game doesn't mean that no one else will. There is such a thing as a variety. How would you like it if you were a kid, saw a console like the Nintendo Wii and all there was on it was games that were designed for over 18's.
Too many consoles nowadays are concentrating on graphics and mostly action games. That's where Nintendo have widely overcome and which has made it the best selling console of this generation, because they're directing the console at all ages and not just a specific audience.

cmon, firstly, nintendo only one to use controls well, that is not nintendos fault, so that can get scraped of the list,
secondly, new IPs, could say the same for sony and MS and also dont see them bringing out a new game every 2-3 months and , with all there games coming out, do they have the time??
lastly, cut out the crap games, well that not nintendos fault, yes they could stop them and say "your game is crap it's not coming on our consloe" like they did with red steel 2 and i am please about that but did this not drive developers away from the GC??
yes online is weak and supply is limited but for all we no this is a marketing strategy ( much like take 2).
and TBH other consoles have there fair share of problems

None of the original list is a description of a fault with the Wii .. .. .. .. it's a list of what people think they want for the Wii (and if they had it there would STILL be supid lists like this made).

your post accomplishes nothing.

they dont need new games every 2-3 months that are original IPs.. but try lost planet, mass effect, gears of war, uncharted, warhawk, lost odyssey, and little big planet.

Re-read what I said. Just because you don't like the majority of games don't mean that others don't.
You alone can't determine whether games are "shitty" or not. That's why Nintendo are the best selling console of this generation. Because there is more variety compared to the other consoles, which make it the ideal console for everyone and not just one range of people.

I alone, can't, sure.
But thousands upon thousands of gamers calling these titles "shovelware" says it all, really.

I... don't really understand why any of us feel the need to get heated about any of this. First of all, Nintendo is, in many ways, an untouchable corporation by individual individuals. As such, one person saying that "Game X is fun," or, conversely, "Game X is horrendous," really doesn't matter. Sad to say, but, in so many ways, the press controls the market.
Last I checked, a lot of Wii games do get pretty bad scores from key parts of the press like IGN and Gamespot. That's not "one person's opinion," that's just market data. Moreover, there should be a clear understanding of the distinction between subjective enjoyment value and objective critical value. There is truth in stating that objectively bad games can be subjectively fun to some people, but that doesn't remove the objectively bad nature of said games. I digress.
These things aside, why do we really feel a need to get uptight about who likes or dislikes what?
Still, let's move on. Nintendo isn't really meant to set a standard of quality for the games released on its system. At least, I'm glad it isn't. That would be bad for the industry on the whole (especially for developers/publishers). We have more access to quality criticism of gaming than ever before, so why do we complain about there being a lot of shovelwear? We don't have to buy it. I'd say we shouldn't buy it, but that really isn't the point. I'm guessing here, but my thought is that Nintendo's little "seal" merely means that a given game has passed a level of game testing for the sake of stability. We would probably hurt the industry more than help it if third-parties had to put out high quality games. Moreover, cost of development would most likely go up... making the appeal of developing for the Wii go down.
But, if there's one point I could really make, it would be this: It's nothing personal; it's strictly business.
Also, just to clarify something, linuxghost defended Nintendo at the top of this page while saying that many games in the current catalog are subpar. This is consistent with the established industry press. Why I'm iterating this is beyond me, but this isn't a matter of personal preference or enjoyment; we're trying to deal in facts and credible critiques.
If we can't post while striving for objective truth, then our posts... really... serve little purpose. Preferences are all well and good, but they are preferences, and they do little good when determining the objective quality of a game.
Finally, can we all be on the same page with something here? Nintendo is responsible only for its own studios; it is not responsible for third-parties. The same can be said of Microsoft and Sony. (This is in response to drawing the connection of Lost Planet, Mass Effect, etc., to the 360 and PS3.) We cannot attribute Capcom's (for example) games to Nintendo (for better or worse). Nintendo as a hardware manufacturer should not be confused with Nintendo as a software developer. Nintendo, in any respect, should not be confused with the quality of third-party games released on its consoles.

Not everyone has indeed nailed a control scheme, but its a lot better than the start (Red Steel anyone?)
The bulk of it is going to be gestures, and I think this will always be true.
If Wii Sports has taught me anything, its that the Wii Mote and IR sssensor has a tendency to think you're doing one thing, when in reality you're not. Simply moving the Wiimote an inch to the right is sometimes a full movement on the game. There may be no cure for this.
I disagree with the statement about new franchises.
They have one: its called the "Mii" franchise. Deal with it.
Personally, I say that they go back and tap into the field of unused franchises. Kid Icarus is all but announced, F-Zero would look beautiful on the Wii, Animal Crossing would be a major hit, or major disaster, and how bout some love for Pikmin?
I'm not even going to bother talking about the online. That's a given.
