While we are on subject of Nintendo stepping up their game for their next system (which is what I'm estimating to be 6-8 years from now). I would like to see a stealth type of Metroid Prime game (in which you're in the Zero suit/third person.). As well as seeing some revived franchises, such as possibly an Ice Climbers adventure game, a revolutionary Star Fox game. A possible M rated Zelda game? That'd definitely be interesting.

A game developer could make a game that comes with a simple headset like the 'goggles' he came up with, but could go one further and add additional sound and maybe a mini lcd display on one of the lenses also. Have one wii remote in your hand and a second under your tv. IT WOULD BE AWSOME!

Have two Identical Wiimotes atttached be a wire but without the 1+2 buttons, and make then smaller. Both with pointers incase you were dual wielding pistols/swords. And both with motion sensors for Right hand and Left hand.
And for god sakes, better online. Keep it parentally safe but make the friend codes optional for ALL games.

Not by the time it comes out. By that time Blueray will be near enough the price of DVD.

Hmm... I don't care HOW the system looks (I think white color or black works, and keeping the blue light for both)
I could care less about the HD (I have an 720p HDTV, but I'm not all ga-ga over the specs) But no doubt I think the successor will have it.
i could also care less about DVD playback (though that WOULD be helpful, never harmful) Blu-Ray would only bump up the price, and I'm far from even wanting one right now, at least until the DVD dies off.
The controller is the hothead of the debate. Now, I LIKE the GCN controller, and I also like the Wiimote pair. The classic controller is decent, but could use improvement. Likely they'll retain the motion control, but I'd like an improved build of the GCN controller, and more support for it.
The successor should ALSO have a stronger VC set-up, along with stronger current of incoming retros (that is, if the VC isn't magically filled by that time).
Wii/GCN playback is strongly strongly desired.
And since Wii is taking baby steps into the internet, the successor should have at least a SLIGHTLY stronger counterattack to the complaints of FC's.
By then support from 3rd party would have grown immensely, and the launch of the successor would be stronger. We'd likely get a launch of strong 1st party (Metroid, Mario, ZELDA, etc...)
And honestly, that's all I would like.

I nodded to everything but the M rated Zelda.
Don't get me wrong, I'm like 20 years old, and all, but I'd HATE that. Zelda should go no higher than a T rating. At E, **Spoiler?** Wind Waker Link stabbed Ganondorf in the friggin head. (One of the coolest scenes in that game. One of them) TP was dark, darker than MM, and amazingly beautiful to add. I think the theme of throwing in death and more emphasis on darkness and personality is an intriguing feature, but the tons of blood and gore thing isn't really needed. PLUS, half of us played Zelda when we were 4, starting the geekdom of the series. To throw in an M is just a "In your face!" to young fans.
Anyways, I got off topic.
To the poster that linked to the VR thing....that was awesome. And Nintendo needs to throw that in somewhere down the road.

I read somewhere Nintendo have been working on more virtual reality type hardware.
As the next generation of consoles won't be out for a while, Nintendo may well have this technology ready for end user consumption and maybe put it into their next console.

They're still having trouble keeping the Wii on shelves, so likely they're going to continue with the Wii they have now.

don't worry, there wont be any major revisions to the wii for at least 3 christmases, there may be one with better storage / motionplus built in, but no hardware updates that would make present wiis completly obselete.
For the next nintendo console, hmm, I see something that ships with high definition connectors, as well as normal, still using a DVD drive, by that point flash memory will probably be cheap enough for it to have around 20 gigs, maybe 1.5 times the 360 in terms of graphical power; i have no idea about the controller though.

The companies are always making new things, making it hard to catch up with the new consoles. If they would just slow down, people would have an easier time getting all the games the want without having to buy a crazy new console to get it on. Nintendo GameCube lasted six years before Wii came out. I think it's amazing how PS2 is still alive.

How would it be a "wiivolution" if it goes back in time with an old controller.
Face it people the classic controllers should be gone by next gen. Especially with Sony wanting to copy the Wiimote design.
I don't mind at all. I would LOVE to see Wii2 have:
Same remote with built in Motion Plus and an upgraded speaker with better sound quality and louder output.
HD Ready with graphics on par with the 360.
A special disk drive that accepts disks with higher capacities than Blu-Ray like Hologram or Protein disk for example.
HCSD Card Support.
No DVD playback, No Blu-Ray playback, and No Friend Codes!!!

I still really doubt it'd be "Wii2'

I really hope the name of the console isn't Wii2, because (barring the SNES) all of the home consoles have had completely different names. I think it would be kind of neat if they named the next Nintendo console the Dolphin (The prototype name for the gamecube or the 64, I don't remember)

No,you're all wrong
It shall have the code name: Alpha.
But then come out as something more crappier!...something to do with family and togetherness,i.e. we=wii
maybe the next console will be called= us...but then spelt like= u's
okay...soo atleast 3 years run time in between, next console should be out mid 2011. By which time more kiddies will be playing games. And Zelda will have a son..which is called zip-son of link!
Something like that. And mario will have a super mega awesome flower suit, and racoon suit. In Mario "dimension!"
They already explored both earth and space...now lets go in between, chyah!
