Why not. Xbox could be going that way and it would make very large & high def games.

I really can't imagion what the next console could be..
Some sort of Helmet where you're actually playing the game with your mind, instead of your hands/feet whatever. x__________x
Blu Ray would be a nice addition..

$200+ now, yes. However, by the time the system launches (let's say 2011), Blu-Ray won't add anything close to $200. You'll be able to go to Wal-Mart in 2011 and by a basic Blu-Ray player for $60.

dvd hasnt been out for 10 years. or has it? no it hasnt im sure. but anyways its possible. have you d=seen how fast the psp price went down? the first 8 months it was 280 bucks. then it istantly changes to 147 bucks. this CLEARLY proves its possible. in a year, all movie theaters will have blue-ray so in 3 years the price could go down.

Price goes down based on consumption, aswell as the amount of time on the market. If not a lot of people buy blu-ray over the next few years, then manufacturers will not invest as much money into the technology.
The reason DVD got cheep so fast was because people jumped into the format very quickly because it was a huge improvement and a completely new idea compared to tape style media, same with CD's. Everyone goes out and buys one for 250 bucks and they in turn the manufacturers put money into the technology to make it cheeper to be more competitive and to make a better profit.
So far Blu-ray has won the HD format war, but it is not getting bought up at nearly the rate that DVD technology was. Alot of people do not want to lose the new DVD collection to a new HDDVD collection. It doesn't appeal as much as a completely new media format, this isnt new its just an updated DVD. This is pretty easy to tell based on intial sales, Specially when you look at the upconverter DVD players selling like hot cakes now. Sure its not true HD but if you can make a old DVD "look" like a HDDVD for a fraction of the price then people will go with it.
Time and Time again Media formats have been picked for price, ease of use, availability over how technologically advance they are. Look at Beta Max and 8 track. At the time the quality was far better as opposed to VHS and Cassette. Still VHS had an initial longer recording time "the reason for alot of VHS purchases" and Cassette was a much smaller and easier to use format than 8-track.
For now blu-ray is still way up in the air if it will take over the DVD market, the DVD market is acctually shrinking more and more all the time with the new downloadable features with our devices today. Nintendo could go in many directions with what format they use and unless Blu-ray picks up A LOT in the next few years, it is not going to drop dramtically in price, probably in the 200-250 range but dont expect to buy a 99 dollar blu-ray by 2012. If it's even still around by then and not replaced with a newer easier to use format such as a memory card setup.

Blu Ray launched in 2006. By 2011, prices will be way down. Basic DVD players have hit below the $100 mark in late 2001. That's when I got my first player, in Toys R' Us. They were only mainstream for 3 or 4 years at best at that point.

Totally false. We're already seeing sub-$250 Blu-Ray players, when they were $1,000 two years ago. No $99 players by 2012? We'll see $99 basic players at the end of 2009, mark my words.
The next format will be holographic media, but they are still extremely expensive to make ($12,000+ per player, $120 for media). They hold (if I remember right) 2.3 terrabytes. However, all that memory is not needed now. It will be when Ultra HDTV (7,000P resoluion!!! ) comes out, but I don't see that TV happening before 2020, probably 2025-2030.

Are you gonna post up a link to a new Blu-ray player for less than 250 dollars? The cheepest on the market is still 350 dollars unless you found some crazy sale, your most likely looking at a Refurbed unit. There is not a legit new blu-ray player for sale at 250 dollars.
DVD launched in 1993 and didn't stay steady below the 100 dollar mark untill about 8-10 years later, and was greatly more popular than blu-ray on the same time scale.
Of course the price dropped in the first few years. You have to understand with any new product the first consumers have to pay for all the initial cost of making the product including the R&D, prototype,Tool design ect. ect. Now that that is starting to get payed off the price has hit a pretty steady level for the last year or so. Now when they start to acctually turn a profit on the players in the next few years they will use some of that profit to invest into the tech to make it cheeper and in turn make more profit. Thats how all manufactured goods end up working.
Still I wouldn't expect a 99 dollar blu-ray player till atleast 2014-2016. And who knows what we will be using by then so it doesn't matter.
