I was wondering if the Wii has hd compatibility. Are there HD component cables available?

You will not get a HD on the Wii. However with the component cables (not included) you will get 480p. Just like the gamecube. As with all things Nintendo, they under estimated consumer demand and all nintendo component cables sold out. First part of December is the next expected batch.

Yepp. 480p is equivalent to DVD picture quality. Can't wait till I can get my hands on the component cables.

As far as I know, most games support Widescreen too.
