Wiiware + Guitar Hero?
Anyone think it could be a possibility?
IGN mentioned that there is a karaoke game announced for the Japanese Wiiware channel that will allow users do "download" (or possibly rent) songs, and sing along with a microphone.
Could a developer release something like this that would not only allow users to download and infinite number of songs, but also allow players to create their own guitar hero tracks, upload, and share?

I think the last point, creating your own tracks, is a lot of exposure people are overlooking.
What better than a garage band to get themselves heard by distributing guitar hero songs online? Waaay better than myspace or something.

Agreed, creating your own songs would be really neat.
I think something similar to a Guitar Hero could happen, I don't see the exact Guitar Hero being available for WiiWare.

If they are going to do this...
They really need to announce it very soon.
I am already looking for an xbox 360 deal to purchase. So I can have access to the superior quality & quantity of DLC for the 360 games (GH & RB specifically).
Nintendo AND 3rd parties are going to be missing out HUGE when they screw this up.

I know this is not directly related, but I play Frets on Fire on my computer and it allows you to take any song and convert it. It'll also import GH songs
But I doubt we'll see anything like that on the Wii. It's too specialized for their philosophy

ok wait so for every game that needs a dlc, we have to get a new channel for it? it will take up a lot of space for sure. why not have a channle sort of like wii shop channel dedicated to just dlc?

I wonder how much space a downloadable song for GH3 would take up. I predict that measly 512MB disappearing fast...

GH3 downloadable content is supposed to be implemented like WiiWare. WiiWare is supposed to work by compressing the game data on an SD card until right before the data is needed, then uncompressing it into the system memory.
We shouldn't have to worry about the 512 MB restriction because of this. I read an article on this, posted here somewhere but I don't remember the source.

Hmm, interesting. First I've heard of this. I hope you don't mind if I ask that you provide us a source before we can give it any credibility? Not to say you aren't correct, but I have to be highly-suspicious of something that would require users to own an SD card. Doesn't seem Nintendo's style.
Not to mention that most content (such as graphics and sound) would be compressed already, so there's no benefit in compressing it further.

Did a quick search for WiiWare +Compress and got a few sources:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/854/854259p1.html
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/new...hp?story=17584
http://n-europe.com/news.php?nid=11548
I might have been a little off on the games being store on the SD card, but it sounds like the compression is supposed to be pretty good, and the games can be backed up to SD like VC games.
