does a wii SD memory card work with SSB melee?

I just super smash bros melee on the wii, and I found out that I can't save it unless I have a memory card. So my question is, does a wii SD memory card qualify for a gamecube game on the wii? thanks.

No, Gamecube games can only be saved using Gamecube memory cards.

No, not at all. Gamecube memory cards are compatable with the wii as well (flip open that flap right next to the Gamecube controller flap). I'm not sure if they're still sold in stores, but you could certainly buy one online at a fairly cheap price.

As are the vast majority of other new members' questions. What's your point?
