Wii To Dominate 2008?

Wii only has 1 more known game coming which is Mario Kart. I don't count Wii Fit as a game. Im getting Mario Kart but I duno when cuz im getting GTA4.
But aside from Mario Kart there's nothing else coming thats a sure game. There's a few possible games that could be good though, but nothing sure aside from Mario Kart.

The Wii's a hunk of trash with about six games I find worth playing with dated elements and rehashed gameplay/design (ie. Smash Bros).

And maaan, is it fun.

PS3 will likely begin to catch up this year. Europe's PS3 sales have been increasing, and with another price drop, it'll sell more.

Wii will still come out first, this year at least. Probably the next as well.

To be honest, 2008 is shaping up to be a great year for gaming whatever console you own.

Wii will dominate again in terms of sales though.

If the Wii does win next year it won't be very dominating. The 360 and PS3 have some huge titles on the way.

well, they are selling more but there only 300$ and it dosent cater to teens who want to play a good shooter, instead only girls and 7 year olds who want a cloudy airy go lucky game.

another thing is u cant get key games like CALL OF DUTY 4, resistance and the graphix arent that good, i think wii is going to domonate 2008 because the PRICE TAG not the system and loos in the years 2 come.

+ call of duty 5 for the wii is a JOKE, first off all call of duty 4 is the best a game can bee with our current tecnology and to good for the wiis outdated tecnology so what makes u think there gona make a new one for the wii!, we will need vertual reality before they make a better game!!!(which will make the wii look more like a super nintendo and the ps3 a ps2

Tripple I count 4 ha ha...

Besides that guys this isn't up to your own opinion who will dominate. Everyones opinions of games and game quality is different. Thats why we see games like SMG, Zelda:TWP, and SSBB keeping pace with games like COD:4, Assasins Creed ect..

The Wii could do much better if they got some better 3rd party support, but so far the best titles are without a doubt the Nintendo titles. Still how many Games can Nintendo push out? At best we are looking at 4-5 big games a year from Nintendo even with them directing efforts away from the DS to the Wii.

3rd Party support looks like its starting to hit the Wii, but we have yet to see any really big 3rd party title drops, just rumors and games in development so far. Even then games like Star Wars are powered down to fit the Wii with some bonus content to make up for it, will this type of development work with the Wii? Only time will tell.

They will continue to dominate sales because they have the Casual market, just like the PS2 did last round, even being the weakest system on the market. They already have such a strong foot hold it would be hard for the other 2 to catch up in sales.
The real question is why is it taking 3rd party so long to give into the Wii, Nintendo titles are selling better then most multi platform 3rd party titles, and the Wii has almost 50% of the console market already. They are ignoring alot of money by not putting out Wii games that's for sure.

Same thing happened with the DS though, Nintendo makes a bunch of money off the "gimmick" handheld. It then dominates the market while 3rd party ignored it. Now they get the leftovers while Nintendo is swimming in cash from all the money they made when they had no competition at the start. Same story, aparently they do not learn from their mistakes. Our loss sure, but it's not Nintendo's fault 3rd party is being stupid.

Wii is already "dominating" my year, as I don't own a 360 or PS3 and don't plan to. I have a lot of fun with my Wii. (I also only got it about a month ago, so it's "new" to me still.)

As for killer apps this year:

- Call of Duty 5
- new Fatal Frame
- new Alone in the Dark
- King of Fighters Collection
- new Tomb Raider
- new Rygar
- new Harvest Moon
- (supposedly) new Tony Hawk

There's plenty of good stuff coming out. I'm sure we'll be surprised at all the sleeper hits, too.

Agreed, sadly.

The DS's game catalog is absolutely pathetic, in my opinion. I don't even understand why anyone (over the age of, say, 16) wants one. So much garbage.

The Wii has been on the same path for the past year or so, but I'm hoping it will turn around. I think it will.

none of those are going to be killer apps.... (besides harvest moon, maybe..)

"Killer app" is subjective, in my opinion.

It basically means "I'll be buying these."

Can't really put Alone in the Dark in that list because it's also going to be on 360/PS3 and it's going to be better on those consoles. Im 99.9% sure the waggle effect isn't going to "enhance gameplay"

Same with COD5, except changes are COD5 will suck compared to COD4 even on PS3/360 since it's not developed by the same company and it definately will suck on the Wii.

I think Wii will continue dominate in the terms of hardware sales. But personally thats not what wins the "war". I look at game quality over sales.

Nothing has been great this round from any of them, some are better then others but its all still recycled crap. Most of them are just sequals or improvements on old ideas.

The best "cult" games are going to come out of Wii-ware,XBL arcade, and the PS store... The big publishers 1st and 3rd party seem to have run out of ideas, or are just scared to try something new. Hopefully the indie dev's/publishers will be willing to take some chances. Nothing has Wow'ed me this gen yet, some great online multi player setups but the games and genre's themself are stale "from everyone" and if it wasn't for the online they wouldn't be worth the cash. Waggle aor good graphics doesn't save an old concept.
