My dad is an Atari Freak, took a while to talk him into a Nintendo acctually. That is why I got into Atari.
I've got the 2600, 5200, 7800, and Jaguar hooked up to my 36 inch in my Den. I still play the 2600 the most, bust it out for a game of BattelZone or Centipede...
I've always been a pretty big gamer but nothing nut's like 8 hours a day or anything. Now I'm more on the collector end.
I've only played a little over half of the 1000+ games I've bought over the years for all the systems. It's more for the history and memory of it all that I do it. I collect them like baseball cards ha ha. But when the mood strikes me there is always something new to do so it's a good thing.
Still got a few classic systems I gotta pick up so it gives me a nice hobby, searching garage sales, flea markets and ebay trying to find the memorys I never had as a kid..lol

I might start collecting in a few years when my chick and I start our careers. It will be a whole lotta fun getting all the stuff I had back plus everything else.

It's not as expensive as you might think, unless you want mint quality un-opened stuff you plan to sell later on or something.
Normally I can get a lot deal of a system and 25-50 games for 50-100 bucks at a gargae sale, flea market or ebay even at times. You can quickly build your gaming collection with older systems thats for sure.
The "Gamers" todays seem to buy and sell there stuff so fast just to get the newest thing out. I've only sold one thing in the past and regreted it. Ever since then I have never sold a piece of gaming gear. For how much stuff i have most peopel would be suprised how little I spend on it. Really it's only the new stuff that will cost you.

Yeah wezeles I agree My NES, SNES, N64, NGC, Wii, SEGA GENESIS, MASTER SYSTEM, SEGA SATURN, PS2, 360, have cost me 4567.78 bucks to complete a decent library, of course thats the net value of all the stuff today. Your right never sell a system, if you hate it put it away, if you sell it you may regret it.
Man I put tons of stuff away for now, just because the fact that all that shit clearly can't be plugged in at the same time, I've tried it all it just don't work.
I recently replaced my Nintendo's deck, just because parts and labour cost the same, and I wanted a nintendo that day as opposed to leaving it there over night, and it only cost me 29 bucks plus tax, so even when things break down, it mighty cheaper than it used to be.
but, people do ask me when they see the mess of games and equipment I own,"where did you get the money?" its quite simple, I LIVE AT HOME, I MOW LAWNS AND SAVE IT ALL, I WINDOW SHOP SOMETIMES FOR YEARS BEFORE BUYING A CONSOLE!!, nobody gets it, thers quite a demand for lawn mowing, especially if your neighboorhood has lots of seniors.

Talk about a blast from the past. I remember playing on the 2600 years ago. Smurfs and this star wars game.
We just binned an old piece of junk called a Magna Odyssey or Magnavox Odyssey that we found in the loft. It looked so old and dated I assumed it would only sell for 50p or something on a boot fair so we binned it. Worked too.

Was it this?
I personally wouldn't of gotten rid of that.
EDIT: You just got rid of the world's first video game console.
EDIT 2- The console that came after it.

My first console was the Coleco Telstar Ranger. Unfortunately it burned in a house fire in 1984, but was replaced by an IBM PC with 2 floppy drives.

Read the Wikipedia article I provided, it says otherwise.
Back onto the topic this thread was made for, I don't think the Wii will dominate 2008. It's a pretty even tie between all of the consoles.

My first console. I didn't say the first console.
Last time I checked, I wasn't in Wikipedia.
This topic is over. 2008 is halfway over and Wii is just getting warmed up.

The Wii is easily dominating 2008 so far, because in both hardware and software the Wii is still outselling everything else.
As reported by NPD, Wii claimed a 49 percent share of all console sales in July and continues to extended its lead as the best-selling console of this generation.
I cannot see things changing much over the next 6 months either, considering the 360 and PS3 have released their biggest exclusives already (presuming that Halo 3 and MGS4 were the big system sellers).

The 360 still has Gears 2, Fable 2, etc. And the PS3 haven't even scratched the surface of their exclusives. (Littlebigplanet, Resistance 2, God of War 3, MAG, Killzone 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Tekken 6, SOCOM, Hardware 2, etc.)
Plus the continuation of other series' like Uncharted, and Ratchet.
If anyone, the Wii has used up all of their exclusives. For a while at least. Then they just reuse the same franchises over and over again. Not that that's a bad thing, some franchises are good. But some just need to die.

No Topic:
