Mario FTW, of course without him the company would be nothing he took them from a no name company to the top video game company. He is more recognizable by kids today than mickey mouse.

Second place would be a little harder to choose but I would probably say link wins second place besides mario he is Nintendo's biggest character, lots of people love him and he showed everyone that Nintendo is capable of doing more than making a plumber jump on a goomba.
