Nintendo is aware of this, the Wii is designed to operate well within it's temperature limit. Nintendo almost encourages 24 hour access, Wiiconnect24 basically says it all. The blue glow was intentionally planned by Nintendo to alert you when you received a new message, this also cannot be taken
full advantage of if the Wii is not continually connected (you can easily see when you have a new message if you manually connect when needed, what would be the point in the glowing then?)
Nintendo planned this all well in advance.
And as a final note, I have owned my Wii since launch and have turned it
completely off maybe 5 times max.
