Wii Disk Drive Help!
I have had my wii for about a year now.. I didn't play it for a few weeks till today when I tried to put in a game. It lights up green and flashes blue but it does not take the game. there is no noise of the CD drive booting up or the motors turning. So i took it apart and cant seem to notice anything wrong with the wii. how do i fix it so it will take the games? alternitiavlly where could i buy another CD drive for the wii? I have a lot of XP with repairing electronics so replaced the drive should be cake.

Well you could have got it fixed for free if you didn't open it up, voids the warranty, but if it's over a year old that doesn't matter.
You can buy a bunch of different parts from the Nintendo store online i think.

Is that to say that it's modded? Because expired would be a better word to use if you just ment it's over a year old. But if it was modded, it would've helped in diagnosing the problem...

If you've modded it, you've really shot yourself in the foot (and for what...what does modding a Wii even give you)? And how long have you had the Wii? Not many are out of their warranties yet, as you get 1 year and 3 months (you get 3 more months for registering, right)? That means that basically only launch Wii's are out of warranty. Even still, you could have always played dumb and tried to get it fixed under warranty. I did that with Apple once and they fixed my iBook for free (then again, they're not as greedy as Nintendo and actually care about their consumers...again, unlike Nintendo).
Regardless, unless you want a brick, you're best off sending it in to Nintendo to have it repaired. It'll cost you, but it'll be much less than buying a new one. Though, if you have a modded Wii, they probably won't fix it. Just take it to whoever modded it to have it fixed.

not sure how openly available a wii disc drive would be...
not many people would have much reason to take them apart, especially as they are not long out of warranties..
also the fact that the console overall isnt that expensive a repair wouldnt cost that much (in theory) so there may not be the big demand for parts for self repairs
