No. From what I've heard it's pretty awful. Nintendo themselves have discontinued production of the adaptors and no longer provide support for them. People get a lot of problems using them as well. You'd be better off getting a decent wireless router and you could use it for your computer as well.

go to ebay and you might be able to get a router for the same price as that wifi dongle.

Not saying everybody has a problems - clearly it's working for you. It can just depend on the distance between the dongle and the Wii, wall thickness, electro-magnetic interference etc.

Mine works perfectly, when I want to play online I just need to turn off my firewall on my security settings (not the actual one, but another one in order for it work) then I turn it back on once I am done.
No lag for me, and it connects really fast. You can also get a LAN Adapter if your computer is relatively close to your Wii as you need to connect a cord to your router and then to your Wii. It explains how to do it, and both are easy to install.

It works great for some people, but other people have endless problems with it. You're better off getting a wireless router.

i've been using the lan adapter since I bought my Wii, and the only problem I have is when I want to play online i have to unplug my computer from the wired router and vice versa. I don't understand why I can't use both at the same time, since it's easier to add fc's while i'm online with the wii. Other than that I haven't had anything wrong with it. It loads fairly quickly and I haven't had any problems with lagging.
If anyone knows why I can't be online with my computer AND my Wii at the same time some help would be appreciated.

the problem i always hear that people have with it is something about people's internet connection settings. when i had it, it worked fine. never had a problem. a friend of mine though, his was working fine but then one day it crapped out and it kept on saying that there was a problem with connection setting. he thought it was his dongle so i gave him mine since i was getting a router. he had the same problem again so he just got a router. never lagged when i had it.
and cantgetawii, you know, there are some settings you can change so you don't have to turn off your firewall every time you're wanting to go online.

Please note: The Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector has been discontinued until further notice. As an alternative for on-line access, Wii owners can use a standard wireless router, or the Wii LAN Adapter.

The only real problem with the USB Connector was that, like most other things, it didn't work on Vista. Aside from that, I've never had any problems with it and use it often.

Ok guys look. There are various problems with routers, and connectors. Most of them are user related. You bought Vista? That's your problem. Firewall? Your problem. Lag because you are using a file sharing program like Bit Torrent? Your problem. Unable to read an instruction manual? Your problem. I've seen too many modem cases where people make the mistake themselves.

^^True^^
In context of the original question though (in the UK) the dongle is £29.98 and needs to be used in conjunction with a computer that is switched on and wired into a router, wheras a wireless router that both could connect to can be bought for as little as £28.99.
The router is the simpler option as there are less connections between the internet and your Wii.
A wired connection is nearly always faster than the equivalent wireless one (in my case up to 7x more data per second) so if the LAN adapter is an option for you then it might be worth looking at that as well as a potential solution.
