I can play fine with random people online,but when i added my friend and either I or he creates a room we get an 86420 error code. Does anyone have any experiance with this???? I tried the Nintendo support but thats all gibberish to me? Anyone know why we are getting 86420 error code? Please help, would love to play with friends.

Can he play online with others? If not it may be his router/firewall settings. Seeming that you can play it is either him or Nintendo.

With just eachother or others also? You said you could play random online fine, can he? It doesn't matter who makes the room, if the settings are wrong the other won't be able to connect to them.

The server has been going down a little bit due to the massive amount of users. Give Nintendo a few weeks to finalize the servers. I think they are doing much better with this game's online mode. I haven't seen any lag. It's like the game runs on magic.

There are still some lag glitches, such as throwing a shell at a player and having it not count. That would be minor lag.

Heh and usually one of the most detrimental aspects of it. But yes, it may just be a bad connection with Nintendo.

I either get error code 86420 and am kicked off the Nintendo WFC, or it says "Unable to meet up with friend. Please try again later." And nothing ever changes.
I've had problems connecting with certain friends in previous games (GH3 for example) and believe this to be a router problem. I've tried setting a static IP to no avail, and reseting the router to its factory setting. Nothing has worked.
If anyone knows more about this please let me know.
