I just got a Wii and when it's off the blue neon lights seems to be doing something, is this normal, does it means it;s updating even know it's off?

Do you mean the disc slot?

If it's flashing you have an unread message on the message board. New user? Probably a wii sports message

Click on the envelope bottom right of the main screen to bring up the message board.. .. ..

The disc slot will also flash blue if it receives information from WiiConnect24.

thanks so much, man I can't believe how much I love the damn Wii, I just sold my PS3 with 7 games and my PSP, I'm 29 years old and this system is small and not that powerful, but it's freaking awesome, I got Wii sports of course, and Smash Brothers, and Mario Kart, me and my girl were playing all night. I just picked up Mario galaxy today, can't wait to play that later.
