Man, oh man, I'm getting tired of getting killed over and over and over and over...... You know what would have been nice to unlock? The hearts! Pure protection for awhile. That's what would have been nice. It would have been nice if it protected you against the first-place killer too! But noooooo! I'm on Mirror Mode and just want to unlock the few things there. I have no intention of doing the expert ghost thing. I'm not that dedicated. I just want to get through the main game but what a pain in the you-know-what! You know what really tans my hide? The fact that you get hit by something and then when you finally stop spinning around like a top you just sit there like a bump on a pickle. I'm like: Go! GO!! GO ALREADY!!! What's up with that?!?!? Anyway, tonight is definitely NOT a good night. I'm frustrated! FRUSTRATED!! FRUSTRATED!!!

Phew! I feel better already!

Yeah the game can be pretty annoying. I've given up playing online for the moment, I'm sick of getting beaten by n00bs with better luck than me. . . damn items.

The items can get pretty annoying, but it's still an awesome game.

I think the items are decently balanced. Whoever is in first get's banana's and box's, so he can defend on coming shells and what not. The person in last might be the best racer but got ripped off by some small mistake or randomness of a play. Then gets a chance to come back by getting greater items until he catches up. I dunno, it makes sense to me.

I had a guy named NooB win a race. That's even more annoying. I don't like being trained (after getting hit, all the Karts behind hit you too, one after the other until your dead last, before you can move again). I also tried picking Karts with high speed, and I snake like crazy, but somehow I see racers not only get fast acceleration/recovery; they are on my ass the entire race. WTF!? Is there is a super Kart in this game that offers insane speed and recovery? I still win, but a guy who gets hit by a blue shell 3x ends up second, and when I get hit only once, only once I finish 3rd-6th place. WTF!?

Yeah, everyone has to agree that the punishment you receive from this game is abit too much. It is annoying and many races are won through luck, if nothing else. Noobs just wait until they have an excellent item and then win because they suck. True, sad but true.

Still a good game tho.

This game, to me, is just okay. I like Double Dash better. I like that you hold the item you have in your hand and don't have to look up to see what you have. I also like that you can see what everyone else has. Another difference is that in Double Dash you can steal items if you have a mushroom and hit someone. That doesn't seem to be the case in this game. I think they have just put too many items in this game. They sure didn't need to add the new ones, in my opinion.
I haven't tried online yet. I shudder at the thought actually.

Everyone has unlucky races, roll with the punches. It is extremely annoying that essentially 8-12 dictates who will be first if it is a close race. Just fight through the items, eventually you'll get low enough in the ranks to get those items and reclaim your place.

The game should have included a few seconds of temporary invincibility after being hit. I find it quite unfair that after being hit, you're left open for someone to knock you over again and you have no way to defend yourself. Also, the blue shell is too overpowered and it generally discriminates against players with skill.

I love tracks like Rainbow Road, you can tell who's really good at the game on those tracks.

Yeah, Just played a couple of games then. One race was Moonlight Highway, I got hit by a Red Shell, Bullet Bill, a guy with three Green Shells, another Red Shell, then to top it all off, A Funky Kong knocked me under an oncoming truck.

Needless to say, I turned off the game.

i hear that.. leading a race by miles for just over 2 laps, then get blue shelled 4 times! i know the MK series has always had a 'catch up' feature where the players behind get a helping hand, but i think in many cases its way out of hand... i was that far ahead it was clear i was the better 'racer'... not being big headed, just saying i can drift, very well, and thats how i picked up such a lead - only to have it snatched from me with 4 blue shells... 1 fair enough, 2 a bit lame, 3 just plain unfair, 4...conspiracy? joking, but it is frustrating.

and with this said, some of the tracks do seems to more about the racing, if only more of them could be like this, it would be less frustrating and i would swear a hell of a lot less.

anyway, this has been a long post, im off to play mario kart

(i wish)

Do you want a racing game where it's impossible for players behind to ever catch up to the players at the front? I think that would be far more frustrating.

well it isnt a simple as that..

the game is made to be more 'fun' to get along with the whole catch up idea... but to an extent, its taken too far to the point that more skilled racers dont win as much as they should

The only way to defend against a blue shell is a carefully timed mushroom boost. If you're in first, you don't get mushrooms.

Remember, those in first don't get any speed boost items- I think that should be sufficient opportunity for those behind to catch up. Besides, why should a player be penalised for being good enough to build up such a huge lead?

Just mushrooms to catch up? I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

That's the thing, generally you aren't punished as much as if you're at the back of the pack. In my experience I usually do win when I get off to a good early start, if you're left at the back you have to fight with constant stars, bombs and Bullet Bills. It's all in good fun though, I'm sure no one has complained when they've nabbed first place due to a blue shell.
