I am purely speaking of a local connection - the Internet connection is another factor, which usually is out of control for the customer. I am just stating that a wired connection is faster than the Wii's wireless connection capabilities through the local network. You are right, most DSL lines do not get 56 mbits/s, downstream or upstream, so there would not be a bottleneck from the Internet, but compared to a 100baseT connection through wired Ethernet, barring any interference, you will get 100 mbits/s transfer to the router/gateway.

Here is to removing useless information from sigs, i.e. "games I own," "SSBB characters I play as," "my favorite food"

why can't you do this yourself, since you are so pressed to get numbers. They will vary so much, you cannot draw any type of conclusion, since Internet speeds vary. Do you want just a local test or Internet test?
Use this site if you have Internet Channel on the Wii to test the bandwidth.

Because i feel no need to go buy a wired connection when I agree with everything that is said. And I'm not hard-pressed, but this topic has been done over and again. It is about time someone put an end to it.
And if anyone had a real router, it would only be a matter of seconds to see the up/down speeds of the link. Variance would easily tell you which is faster, if infact either is. Unless you mean variance between everyones testings, but that would still give us a big enough pool to draw some conclusions from, too bad none of us own $1000+ routers.

well lets put it to rest then. you are the only one wanting to see numbers. take for granted the connection speeds outlined by the standards.

Um, if you say so. Do some searching though and you will see this question unanswered in many a place.
Sorry for trying to find some real answers finally
