They're a Club Nintendo scheme. You get them when you buy Nintendo games, as well as some third-party games. Register the product on their website and you get Stars for it. You can use them to buy desktop wallpapers and such (and if you're very, very lucky (and fast), a game). You can also buy Wii Points for them, but the exchange rate (400 stars = 100 Wii points) is a rip-off.
They only run this scheme in Europe, so if you live in North America or Australia I'm afraid none of this applies to you.

I never heard of this, is there any other way of registering your product without that code? I have more games but don't have the codes as I didn't know what there were.

FIFA 08, Pro Evolution 6, The Simpsons Game, Oblivion, Halo 3, Gears Of War, Grand Theft Auto IV
I believe that code is your only way of registering, maybe you could do it still if you had the receipt, I would go to www.nintendo.com and ask their support to see what they have to say.

250 stars normally - not even enough for 100 points

Correction. They opened it up to Aussies with the release of Mario Kart Wii, although the site isn't officially up yet (I don't think) But you're still able to register now.

^^ yeah that's true, but we have to wait for an email- or if you search the sight every day, there??...
But yeah. If that's what the sight is going to be, then in about 1/2 months(latest probly 4 months) we'll be able to trade some games for it
