I realize that there have been some discussion on this already.

I bought a US Wii a couple of months ago and moved to Morocco where the voltage is 220V. I did not know that the power adapter only accepts 120 V. I contacted the Wii support center and they said that Wii only works in the region it was sold.

Does anyone have experience using a 220V to 120 V transformer to power the Wii? Is it better to buy one of those after market Universal Adapters for the Wii?

If you'd read the other discussions you mention, you'd realize there's a far-bigger problem than the power adapter: region coding on the discs, and video format.

You need to buy a Wii (and game discs) made for the country you're in.

Best bet is sell your wii.

Morrocco is a SECAM country. You could always buy a french Wii. The only thing you would need to worry about is being able to play games in french.

The other option is to use the converter and import games.

Thanks for the information.

The issue that I have is purely with the power. I moved here on a expatriate assignment. Therefore, my company sent everything in my house including my TV which is NTSC.

I only need to know whether anyone has had experience using a voltage converter with the AC adapter that comes with the Wii.
