i cant beleive people are saying that the athletes should boycott the olympics due to the political views of the host country.

these athletes spend there lives training for this event and there is a lot more riding on it than a 6cm diametre piece of gold. good results in their sports will set them up for life with sponsership deals etc. look at the oarsome foursome and there "goulburn valley" deal, kieran perkins with his milk deal (at the time) and dont even start with ian thorpe.

can you imagine training that hard for 4 years and then being told you cant compete. id tell them wear to stick the boycott.

the olympics is about the athletes, not the host country.

as for the "thousands of people hired to attend" im pretty sure that was for some of the events, not the opening ceremony. and most likely the shit events like water polo and synchronised swimming.

heard an interview on the radio today with jason coleman who was part of the casting for the sydney games, he admitted that there was an auditionee that was a MUCH better singer than nikki webster, but nikki webster was more marketable and cuter so she got the gig.

forget about all the bollocks and just enjoy the cream of the sporting world do what they do best.

The politics side of it IS pretty dodgy.
Even worse if it put pressure on the Olympians.

As far as I know (I've watched like 2mins total of the Olympics) Australia aint doing too well anyway...

We still have the most medals per capita, hardly a fail.

It's still a while to go, and I think we are doing pretty well.

Are we still having that Mario Kart challenge on the weekend? My Parents are going away and I need to be entertained.

And before anyone says anything, I've already complained and had my brothers told they can't have a party, so I can't turn around and have one. Not that I would. My friends are far to boring for that.

Australia was smashed by the Chinese and Austrians (mens), not sure about the womens. But the reflexes displayed by both sides were nothing short of spectacular!
