New Zealand is an awesome place.

Any particular island choice? North or the South? I loved the South Island when I visited. Queenstown, Methven, Arrowtown (I think) Wanaka, and Lake Tekapo (spelling could be wrong) were all awesome places. I could quite easily live in Queenstown.

while we are still on the topic of applied sciences and creationism, I am going to make another long winded post.

Anyone interested in the Large Hadron Collider Particle accelerator that is going to be used for the first time soon?

This is one hell of a piece of modern engineering. It cost approx 8 BILLION Australian Dollars to build.The effects are expected to be dramatic. It's been predicted that the subatomic particles resulting from the crash could mimic conditions that occurred a trillionth of a second after the Big Bang.

They are also having legal action taken against them. A group of scientists are claiming that it is strong enough to create micro black holes that could swallow the earth.

Pretty sure these guys are nutters, as the Hawking theory suggests that and black hole created would be so small that it would dissipate under its own forces pretty quickly. Hence posing no real threat.

The accelerator will be smashing particles together at almost the speed of light. Scientists are hoping to discover how to remove and replace (and generally understand) mass within an object. They are hoping to apply it to space travel. Atm it costs around 10,000 dollars to take ONE kilogram into space. Imagine if they could take most of that weight out on earth, then reapply it once in space.

"Some predict that these high-energy collisions could produce never-before-seen particles and possibly a new form of matter, known as the Higgs boson, which may play a major role in the origins of mass. The collisions might also produce dark matter, miniature black holes and possibly even reveal extra dimensions of space"

Amazing stuff!

Kinda reminds me of Stephen kings book "the mist". In it all the creatures in the mist are caused by an experiment almost the same as the one they plan to do with the Large Hadron Collider Particle accelerator. For those of you not read it. They open up a tear in space-time wich allows matter( and creatures) from other worlds to transfer into our own.

If I was working on the Large Hadron Collider Particle accelerator, I would seriously stand back and yell before firing it " STAND BACK. I AM GOING TO TRY SCIENCE"

I dont get why people dont like science, it is AMAZING. ( pretty envious of people doing physics at university, Wish i was smart enough to be )

This signature is still so awesome. I wish I could make it a signature everytime I send an e-mail, but alas Hotmail is evil and wouldn't cooperate with that idea. "IT HAS TO BE TEXT! You IDIOT" it told me. Ah well.

BTW - Maths sucks. And why the hell do Uni lecturers get paid a quick $50 an hour?

I think you will find they get more then that eki, They also get a car and other benefits.

But other ones because they have "Professor" in their name get mobile phones, credit cards, fuel payment. Psh.
