My hate of EB Games

I have had it with that shop. The only good thing they ever did for me was have two 2000 wii points cards available.
When i was trying to find a wifi USB dongle they had them for 70$ and jb hifi had them for 49$ so i told EB that and they said they'd have to check with jb. So someone went out the back, came back literally 5 secs later and said they said they didn't have any. So they couldn't price match. I had called jb up about 30 mins before this and they said they had 3 of them. I dont know how they called them in 5 seconds, literally, they left and came back within 5 secs. They were then rude about it all saying i was trying to rip them off. I wont be going back there again to buy anything at all.
As it turned out, I went to jb hifi after that and they had, yes, still 3 sitting on the shelf.
It also pisses me off that they get heaps of stock, yet they still charge some of the highest prices for their stuff. Geez EB, get it together.

And the fact that people take it and don't stand up to it is what gets me. They can afford to make their games cheaper, but people just accept the prices as what they are and just pay it. Of course i'm generalising here, but shops like that that treat their customers like they treated me shouldn't be in operation. But just like you said: That's the way the cookie crumbles.

Well actually i said thats the way the world crumbles but thats not the point my EB games is quite nice if people are naive about games they explain it easily to them and the price matching is just bring in a catalouge with the price but or just some evidence of it and your right

I've had good experiences with EB Games. But! They were selling their Wii for $399, while Big W was selling it for $388. They have since changed it though. K-Mart was selling it for the $399 too. I think even Zelda was more expensive in K-Mart. Oh well. I hate going into K-Mart & Big W electronics. Nobody ever knows anything. They look at you and blink and run to their supervisor.

But, I have delt with a good supervisor. I was returning a DVD for some strange reason refused to run disc 2 on my DVD player. But worked on theirs. She agreed to return it. She was good. But other then that... You are lucky to find someone behind the counter, and there is usually ONE person dealing with it all. And, the "back" always seems to be on the otherside of the store in these places.

Like I asked, "Do you have any Wii's in stock"
"Yes" blinks and stands their looking confused
"Well, can I have one please?"
"Oooh right. Umm... err" blinks, picks up phone, looks confused, stands their.

yes, EB shits me. They pretend to know what they're talking about a lot of the time too. I spoke to one guy and he'd never play any Zelda games before but tried to tell me how good TP was so that i'd buy it. I told him I was going to buy it because i've been playing Zelda since before he was born.
They tell u what u wanna hear. They give u bugger all for trade-ins and then up the price by 150% and the worst part...

IF A GAME IS OUT OF STOCK THEY STILL KEEP IT ON THE SHELF! THAT WAY YOU WALK UP TO THE COUNTER WANTING TO BUY IT AND THEY SAY "SORRY, WE'RE SOLD OUT... WOULD U LIKE ME TO ORDER IT FOR YOU?" ... last time that happened my brother and I were trying to get a Pink DS for his missus over xmas... we had been lining up in the store for at least 15mins before they finally told us there was none ... we just dropped the boxes (i was going to get a game for her as well) on the floor and walked out, and they were wondering why we were upset.

I know how you feel, looks like the Brisbane stores really suck. I guess the only good thing about it all is that there are alternatives to shopping at the store. You dont have to go there if you dont want to. The only problem is that people will shop there and they will keep getting away with what they do.

Hear ya Oceanic... however, Big W for example, the closest one to my place, hasn't had ANY Wii stock since it's release... I managed to get a classic controller there when they were sold out everywhere else but that's it. I haven't seen a single game there or anything.

OHHHHHH my cousin had a Big W horror story. He bought Wii Play from there because it was slightly cheaper. Went home and he and his missus opened it up and started playing straight away. They realized the 'mote wasn't working properly. On closer inspection they discovered there was chips out of the wiimote like it had been dropped repeatedly and was actually covered in filth. They also noticed the game disc for Wii Play was covered in dirt and shit too. They took it back but wasted a 30min drive back to the store. They didn't even apologize, just gave him a refund and then he went to Game Traders, told them the story and they gave him Wii Play for the same price as Big W was selling theirs for. Pretty weird, hey!?

That is weird. And did you hear that Big W were selling warioware for 93$ or something, so much for selling for less. I usually get all my stuff from jb hifi, they are the cheapest i can find usually and if something is cheaper elsewhere they believe you and they didn't even check i out the one time it happened to me, just gave it to me for one dollar less than what i told them. I also have myer, kmart, target and game traders to go to as an alternative. So i've got it pretty good and dont have to worry about EB anymore.

The closest Jb hifi for me would be at Robina... A bit of a trip. I am forced to stick to Tweed City. Big W, a terrible dodgy K-Mart (electronics section is constantly bare) and EB games. I am forced to brave Big W... I get weird looks when I walk into EB games. What is wrong with a female being in a games store anyway?

I've found that you really need to shop around (if you have time, that is!)
Massive bargains can be found. I find Specialty shop will charge u top dollar for everything eg: EB games, Game traders.
Shops like BigW, Kmart, JB, Target and the like don't often get a heap of stock but are usually just a bit cheaper.

EG: scored NFS Carbon from David jones $79.95. Everywhere else $99.95.(EB refused to price match it also!) Bargains are out there just need the time and patience to hunt em down. Gota mate who works in JB. Gets all Wii stuff at cost. Games are around $75.00 (he's got my list LOL, dont worry)

I'll shop anywhere that can get stock for Wii at the moment. Simple as that!!

P.S nothing wrong with female gamers at all. My missus contantly whoops me at Wii bowling. (damn her)

i used to work for a place called Funtastic, which is Australia's biggest toy distributor.
When i worked there I was able to get anything for cost price (to the company) minus 10% as a staff discount. Last time I went to Melbourne I was speaking to a mate who still worked there, and he said they were now going to be distributing video games.
PS2 games were, no shit, available for him to buy for approx $7.50 each. He said he couldn't believe it, they were just dirt cheap. He also said they were going to be stocking Wii games when it came out and they'd probably cost $15-20 each.
I called him last week to see what was happening with it... He said he'd been in hospital and was having a really hard time at the moment so I didn't have the heart to ask him about the Wii games.
The shitty part is, at Funtastic, everything u buy from them goes on ur staff account, so u can't just buy a box of brand new Wii games and then go sell them at a market because it's for personal shopping only. That's why Roy (my mate) was just going to buy them for me and send them to me, and just tell people he had the Nintendo (he has no interest in video games, haha).
lucky i'm patient!

On a Wii related note: I beat my sister 12-1 in WarioWare in the multiplayer game with ropes. WOOT!

I like EB for games which are hard to find. Otherwise I wait for their specials and buy then. I dont buy many games anyway so Glorgly
