You need to let her know that it needs to be configured for wireless and can take a few hours to update over the internet once that happens.

And maybe you can even get to setup Miis for your kids so they are up an running Christmas morning instead of having to setup Miis and updating and everything.

Thats way you get to play with it for a littttle while.

I just got mine, this morning!

Was first in line outside of Best Buy, Richmond Hill (Toronto, Ontario). By opening at 9:00AM, we had 45+ people outside, waiting for 6 Wii systems and 6 PS3 systems (after the store had told us the night before that they had 8 Wii's and 9 PS3's!).

15 hours in front of Best Buy drove me craaaazy. But I was with some awesome people, and everyone got along real well. Thanks for the hot chocolate!

Im in Melbourne Australia and had no trouble getting a Wii what so ever

I simply walked into the shop at about Noon
Brought the console plus a extra Controller and numchuck

It was really quite easy

ive wrapped mine up for the kids now (its not for me) ((well maybe just a little)) could you explain the configured for wireless statement a little more ?

shouldnt it just ask for the password for the currently active wireless network in my house ?
id hoped it wouldnt be to difficult

Ive got my wii but im not allowed it untill christmas. I didnt have to queue or anything they rang me up about 2 days after launch date so that was alright

My story is horrible.... NOT well 30th september i preordered my Wii..... rang them 1st December after being sent an email, they said the words that killed me.... sorry but u are not in the first load of consoles, and will not recieve it at release date, we will be ringing you when the 2nd batch comes through...... friday 8th december seemed 2 go on forever..... saturday went to football traning half way through they call me and say your wii is now in stock you can collect it today and we keep ur console for 72 hours, 4 housrs later i was at home staring at my box

finally got my wii today ....i ordered one from play.com on september 18th, and with all this shortage i thought i wouldn't get one before christmas, however i got woken up at 7 this morning my friend telling me he has camped out at toys R us and he is first in line and he could get me one, naturally i said yes. went round this morning to pick it up and been playing all day, it's awesome. i got zelda, red steel (which i quite quite actually like) and NFS carbon (finding the controls difficult).....does anyone know when i should be getting the one i ordered off play? not that it matters anymore lol

So my dad got a hookup through a friend who apparently has a bunch of Wii's sittting around and dad ended up with a free Wii, which he gave to me. anyway it also turned out that they were all "demo" versions. Which means i do not have the "Start Up Disk". I have been calling Nintendo for the past three days now, each time automated message they are taking no calls whatsoever because of "local (i'm guessing weather) condition". In the mean time is there anything else i can do to get this thing setup or do i have to wait for Nintendo to get back on the phone. I'm not much of a gamer but i just wanna get this setup phase over and done with. Thanks for any help guys.

I got mine a week after they came out here in the US. So far I have Ultimate Alliance (not too bad, lots of fun if you have 4 people to play with), Call of Duty 3 (Best FPS I have played...ever. And I don't even like the CoD line), and I just got FarCry this week, which is loads of fun. FarCry is lots of fun, but CoD3 is realistic as all hell. Wii sports also of course provides non stop fun.

I went to Target at 4:30 and was going to there till they opened (8:00) waited till 6:00 when a worker announced that there would only be 15 Wii's and gave 15 tickets to 15 people and told us 15 to come back at 7:45 to pick up your wii. I am number 8 and it's 6:30 where I live so I'm just trying to kill time. My wii is so close! Lots of nice people in line too.

I just got mine this morning!

My dad picked me up from a friends house a 2 in the morning and we drove over to best buy. They said they would have 50-80, but they only had 24, and I was the 24 person in line!! I was sooo lucky :P

I got the Wii finally! I waited outside of Target with a group of other people from about 1:30 am to 7:00 am when they handed out tickets. There were 15 Wiis and one PS3 I think, I was No. 6 in line and it was freezing! But it was all worth it! I got my Wii and DBZ Tenkaichi 2.
