Leon is actually the worst Mercenaries characters so if you manage to get 30,000 on a map you can use that other character to gain experience in Mercenaries
Yay iv unlocked two guys in mercenaries missions krauser and wesker. weskers awsome not used krouser yet. no 5 star ratings but in last mission i got 54000 odd points

I got a 5 star rating on the island with Leon, now i'm trying the castle, i keep getting around 45,000 points.
What do you mean if you get 30,000 on a map, you can use that other character to gain experience?

it's just that u start out with Leon and if you play Mercenaries for awhile youll start to memorize the map layout and where all the items and time bonus/extensions are. But other characters are easier to use as they kill ganados more easily so you might learn the map more easily with them.
My own first 5 star was with HUNK in the Village, after that high scores got easier.
HUNK is the best candidate for the Village, actually, he can do over 200,000 in that stage
the world record, somewhere over 330,000 was done by Wesker in the Castle
The important part to gaining massive points is to KEEP THAT KILL COMBO GOING!

Yeah, it is tough at times though, enemies tend to group at one section and then disappear. Its about learning how to flow through the level really, so you pickup time extensions and bonuses, whilst keeping a reasonable supply of enemies near you.

here's a pro strategy:
usually combos that are under 9 give you very little extra points.
after 9 though, the points will rack up very high.

it's a guide on Scoring in Mercenaries, the table there is much more clear
anyways, when you start to lose ganados, you can cut the combo after 30-or so and search for a time bonus. then gather up alot of ganados and grenade them/slaughter them within that 30 second and start a fresh new Combo. This is especially true for the Village because there are times when enemies stop appearing; however in the Castle, everything flows and there are plenty of enemies so you might not want to cut your Combo there

i only got 2400 points untill i dies with hunk in the village i kept trying to do neck breaker but it never gave me a chance
I just got 106,000 with Hunk in the village, use the TMP mainly, when the chainsaw sisters come along shoot them a little bit then use the neckbreaker when they're open. Remeber to use your grenades too.
P.S there is a bonus kill in the barn, up the top, lure heaps of ganados there, then shoot the red barrel.

two shield zealots and two normal ones. those shield ones are a pain if they gang up on you... it's ironic how bad the shield thrusts hurt, when shields are made for defense...
