Is the Metroid Prime 3 Update any risky?

I'm yet to own a wii but it seems some people are getting a message when they try playing the game saying it has to update the system and that it may become inoperable if modifications have been made, I'm thinkin of getting a modded nintendo wii, will this brick it or something?

no, not unless you've already got a mod chip.

Some games require small updates for the online features to be usable.

Yes the wii has a modchip installed thats why im asking... the wiikey. since it says if any modifications have been made it might become inoperable..

Hmm. Well, best advice I could give you is to get a non-chipped Wii.
If you really want a chipped Wii, my best advice would to be ask people who use the same chip & see what happened with them.

Nintendo's going to have future updates, though...

I highly discourage modding your wii's

many games will have updats now and in the future, aswell as updates for new channels and features.

modding you wii is a stupid thing to do as, you risk bricking your wii, and missing out on all these features. its also illegal, so DONt do it.

if you do, it depends on which mod chip, some get blocked by the MP3 updat some dont

And the Super Mario Galaxy disc detects many mod chips and won't play. Although some mod chip makers have updates to get around the latest protection schemes. But just know that it's going to be an ongoing battle with Nintendo in the future. They don't want mod chips to work and they're not just going to sit back and ignore them. They've already taken steps to have police raids on mod chip makers and sellers.

Get the modded wii. As long as you stay within your region you'll be good. Meaning if the Wii is NTSC (US), get a NTSC metroid.

Mine is modded with the wiikey and I am playing Metroid prime 3 which I downloaded from torrentspy.com.

So man IT WORKS. When I put the disk it it ask to be updated I did and the game starts and no trouble. I also have fifa soccer 08 and I am playing that online also with no problems. I have been kicking some English arses like every night.

If u have the wii key then you will be ok. As for Mario Galaxy, the wii key already have the update that will work with it. So don't worry.
