Guitar Hero and Christmas help

So I know this is in the wrong section guys, and I'm sorry I just need an immediate response since we are exchanging gifts tomorrow. So I went to the mall today to pick up my girlfriend this spider-pig t-shirt (inside joke) and other, well everything in her size is gone.... So I had to think on my toes, and I thought of something. So I called her mom and asked her if she is getting her guitar hero, and she is, she is getting her guitar hero 3 with two controllers for the ps2. Now what I plan on doing is buying her guitar hero 1 and 2 also, but here is my question, Will the guitar hero 3 controllers for the ps2 also work with guitar hero 1 and 2? Thank you for your time guys, I appreciate it very much.

As long as you're getting Guitar hero 1 and 2 on the same console
