Mario Kart looking and sounding disappointing

Although I really believe it - I had the 'pleasure' of playing Gran Turismo Prologue on ps3 and the graphics are *amazing*, but the game is awful - bad handling, no sense of excitement and boring gameplay. It's like they decided to make something that looked great but forgot to put a game in there.

I can handle something that doesn't look photo-realistic as long as it's fun - Mario Kart looks like it has bucket loads of fun...

None, how many photo-realistically rendered Gap stores and Mcdonalds does it take either?

I know this is an old thread but I feel I should speak my opinion. First off, everyone has their own opinions, not everyone is going to like the same game, or we would all be boring, its the truth. Second off I am absolutly thrilled about this game and can NOT WAIT to play it. An all time favorite game with online racing?!?! What more could you ask for? My whole family has been into Nintendo and think about it, Mario Kart and Mario World games are like the face of Nintendo. Nintendo may not have the best graphics like Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 but it has always been a "fun" system, and thats what it is providing for gamers like us. When I first heard about the Wii I was like ew thats going to be stupid and brushed it off my shoulder. It wasn't till October of 2006 when I went into EB Games and they told me about the Wii and that I got excited about it. I asked the guy about all the systems, and these are his exact words, if you want a system with great graphics, get the Xbox 360, if you want a system to have fun and get everyone involved, get the Nintendo Wii. So technically I don't think it is fair to say that the graphics on this game will be bad, because come on Nintendo has not done any games with graphics like other systems, so its kind of like we should already not expect so much from Nintendo. Even though Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Metriod Prime 3 had great graphics, it is not like other systems. I am not putting Nintendo down because believe me I love playing my Nintendo systems and its a hobby my Dad and I share, but it is like common sense when it comes to little things like this.

I will admit, I am pretty excited about this game. However, this game won't be able to TOUCH Burnout 3. Now THAT is a classic. *puts up flame shield*

No need to rag on the online part of the game, no matter what game it is, if it's on the Wii, it's going to suck. Plain and simple.

As for the rest of Mario Kart, it looks great. Double Dash, as well as it sold, I have found that very few liked that concept compared to the original single racer style. So, in that sense, it was a good move. The only way they could have made it better is to have a single and double racer modes. Unfortunately the Wii doesn't have the most memory in the world, so doing that is beyond Nintendo's grasp at the moment.

Personally, I can't wait for this game.

I agree. I personally think the graphics look great.

Mario Kart is going to be great. I just know it.

That's kind of close minded. The Wii doesn't have many great online titles but if I recall correctly the online mode in Brawl (a game which I haven't played because we don't even have a release date yet) is critically acclaimed. It looks like they put a lot of effort in the Mario Kart channel and overall online experience.

Everyone has similar game preferences, but the majority of people know what they're talking about, and we can easily identify the bad games from the popular ones, it's nothing to do with what you prefer. Seeing as Nintendo have a bucket load of fans and the previous titles have been superb, people are going to buy this game just because of that, it's just the way people follow things. I'm buying this game solely because I like the previous titles.

The graphics don't look good at all, and if I'm picky then this would bother me, but it wasn't wonderful to begin with. The slaughtered graphics of Mario Party 8 just made my eyes bleed with horror, and when I see another platform, I'm really missing out on a chunk of the aesthetics. But making it up with gimmicks isn't what it's about, I don't want a crappy steering wheel for four year olds at all, I want a competitive game that isn't realistic that still looks pretty.

Extra content isn't needed, Nintendo are sitting on a gold mine with this game already. I don't know why they felt the need to put motorcycles in the game as something extra, don't give me more crap loads of shitty polygons to look at, Nintendo, spend more time on the actual gameplay. This is why I need snaking, it makes things interesting.

Online will suck, without a shadow of a doubt.

umm snaking is just unfair if hardly anyone can do it well it makes the game unfair..i like racing not power-boosting through a course

What's the point in having karts faster than other then? Everyone's just going to pick the quickest, I'd rather have control and snake. Without snaking, it's just incredibly boring and bland, it doesn't take any skill at all to drive in a straight line. If it's the corners that determine who wins, then I'd rather make the whole track a corner to make this interesting.

One day before release, the game was already sold out in the nearest store. Here in Europe some stores got the game a couple of days before release and it's already hard to find it. Let's just hope they will deliver many more copies of the game on the actual release date, which is tomorrow.

yeah im gonna go pick mines up tomorrow but i didnt pre-order

oh yeah frogger...i forgot that the premise of every racing game MUST be to powerslide..oh-boy was i wrong i mean games like gran turismo,NFS,Forza motorsport they would never sell unless they had powersliding/snaking....oh-wait they DO sell

It's not that they sell because of snaking, they have fans from elsewhere, people buy games for reasons, and I like the unrealistic and insane concept of snaking. I'm guessing you can't snake.
