Level-5 coded Dark Cloud1&2, Rogue Galaxy, and Dragon Quest 8 for PS2. They are currently coding Dragon Quest 9 for DS.

Hopefully we get a good RPG for Wii. This could be huge if they make an exclusive RPG for Wii!

Level-5 Looking Beyond DS
Wii possible recipient of games from Professor Layton developer.
by John Tanaka

March 12, 2008 - Hot-shot Japanese developer/publisher Level-5 is in the headlines over in its home country again. No, the studio hasn't bought the naming rights to another stadium (although we wouldn't be surprised if this were the case). This time, the company's outspoken president Akihiro Hino is the latest gaming executive in the hot seat for Nikkei BP's twelve-part series of interviews focusing on the game industry.

Hino revealed one tasty bit through the course of the nine page interview. While Level-5's publishing efforts have thus far focused exclusively on the DS, with two Professor Layton games already out in Japan and Inazuma Eleven coming later this Spring, the studio is apparently not DS exclusive. Hino revealed to the site that starting this year, the company plans to self-publish titles on platforms aside from the DS. He wouldn't go into specifics, but did note that in the future, all gaming hardware could be targets for Level-5 label games.

It's a bit difficult to determine which hardware Hino is most excited about just looking at his responses in the Nikkei BP interview. On the one hand, he believes the PSP market will without question expand in the future, requiring developers to get on the ball with PSP game development. So you might think that Level-5 is looking at more portable support. But Hino also mentioned the importance of striking a balance between releasing portable and console software.

Assuming Level-5 does target consoles with its self-published titles, Wii seems to be first in line. We're not sure if this means that Wii games are definitely on the way, but Hino noted that the studio is currently advancing with preparations in order to repeat the success they had on the DS with the Wii. For the PS3, Hino said that as a publisher, he'd like to see Japanese hardware sales expand just a bit for the platform. He feels that if a breakthrough title is released for the system, the current sales situation could change, and expressed the hope that Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 would be released quickly (this interview was, presumably, conducted before the MGS4 release date announcement).

So what about that other major console, the Xbox 360? Noting that he spent quite a bit of time over the New Years period playing Xbox 360 games, Hino said that while he feels the hardware is good, the platform has carried over the image of the original Xbox as a product that didn't sell. The 360's problem is with its brand image, according to Hino, and if Microsoft can fix that, he feels the current sales situation could change.

(sry, i do that every time someone says that!)

wouldnt super-fragillistic mean "very delicate"?
If thats what u meant then i guess it makes sense
it would be a "delicate" partnership if L-5 started making Wii games because they usually make games for Sony
