Unlike CantGetAWii I wouldn't say NMH is better than Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess, however it's certainly worth a look. Heck, Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation likes it, so it's got to be pretty good.

Me and my best mate have been both life long ninty fans and purchased No More Heroes on the day it released I can honestly say we both havent touched the game for about 3 weeks.
It's good for the initial first few hours and if you like repetitive linear gameplay then by all means invest in this title.
I would say it's worth a rental nothing more we're both going to trade it in
To Sum up what I think of No More Heroes it's awfully dull , linear, repetitive and you will get tired of this game pretty quickly I would give it a 6/10 at best.
No More Heroes sucks so bad. I got it and at no point whilst I was playing it did I enjoy any moment, aside from the fighting which is the only good thing about it. Even then I could tell how repetitive it was all going to become later on in the game. Story line bored me (not a big fan of them) and mini side jobs were just like .. WHY AM I DOING THIS?! ... so I most certainly took it back.
Also, the graphics pretty much suck. I don't like saying this about any game, tbh, but it really wasn't that good.
At best 3/10.

Have been enjoying this game a lot, even in its neutered PAL form. However the (incredibly fun) fighting could probably get repetitive for anyone who didn't spend their youth mashing buttons in beat-em ups like Streets of Rage, the city is no more than an overblown hub and the graphics are pretty poor (not to say that the art design isn't attractive). Despite all that I actually like the game, but you might want to try before you buy.
Well I just bought this game yesterday, saw it a bit cheap at £22 (cheap for the uk :P) I'd been debating on getting it for a while due to mixed reviews but I thought "sod it". Wasn't too impressed with the introduction, I felt like I'd hit skip somewhere (remember the trailer video released for it? That was awesome, but this was like a cut down version). You get thrown into the first boss fight area with a tutorial and it had me thinking "oh dear have I made a mistake here"
Shouldn't have worried really, the fighting is awesome, just the right amound of wii gestures (like the wrestling moves where one controller is moved e.g. right and the other up to simulate a spin move, trickier than it sounds). The deathblow system is pretty cool as each time you kill an enemy you swing the remote in a random generated direction (shown on screen in orange glowy pixels) and it starts a spinning roullette, line up 3 of a kind and you activate a special ability (slow time, quick attacks (it's a nudge at super saiyajins I think) etc). The boss fights are pretty awesome to but no giveaways there.
The thing some people don't get I feel is what the game does, it pokes fun at itself a bit, harkens back to older gaming era's as well. It has a simple story to begin with (did anyone expect different?), upgrades allow you to get better weapons (and weapon parts upgrades) and you can train your 'body' with motion gestures which were a decent addition.
The money you can earn in the everyday jobs is decent and they're effectively minigames, collect coconuts and mow the lawn as the first two. It's as if the designers altered the time of the minigames until the tester said "okay this is boring now". They're spot on to me, it also mixes it up with the assasination missions such as "Kill everyone without being hit", "Kill the target within xxx time". So you can get money by doing the gesture etc based games which unlock the killing games. Together it gets you money until you get to the next boss fight.
On the graphics...I'm mixed, initially it feels dated but then the style is supposed to to mix in with the old school effect, where it matters like the effects of the sword, the boss attacks, backgrounds, feel sharp and defined, manga-ish even (as the main char is an anime fan). The letdown for the game in that respect for me is the main 'city' as mentioned it's only used as a hub, if you're expecting GTA levels of city detail/size you'll be dissapointed, probably because it wasn't meant to be like that. The handling of the bike is very "game-like" almost as if you're playing a game within a game ( think tron on the sharp turns ).
The bike could be faster and the collision with the cars in the road are a bit weird, no bad collision detection but you can't force them off track etc. (Though you can take out passersby). Oh and you can jump them with practice, the bike is there to get you places though and it does it pretty well.
Weirdly the EU version has no blood like, I understand, the US version but I think this adds to the atmosphere, the enemies dissolve in a flash of pixels.
As mentioned the motion gestures win at combat, I really enjoy them and the random death attack gestures keep you feeling as though you're doing something and the wrestling moves are a great addition. Also when your beam sabre runs out of energy you can enter a recharge mode where you see Travis hold his torch and shake the hell out of it to charge it back up (you shake the wiimote fast as you can, too slow and you can be attacked, especially in the 3rd boss) Sometimes just charging it a bit can be enough to get you through in a tough spot as it takes more energy to block attacks and send out charged attacks.
Also how you hold the wiimote determines whether you're in the high or low stance, pretty self explanatory except each stance determines which charge attack you do and if you attack at the same time you go into a weapon lock where you rotate the wiimote in the direction shown to win as if you were rotating out of the lock.
Extra things: Finding "drago...cough...lakivov balls", trading cards to get more items for your room, hidden treasure underground and what I thought was a 'great' addition, Full length music videos in your "motel room". I loved the one for the Genki Rockers, indy and catchy.
All in all I'd say ignore the people slamming the game, I'm thoroughly enjoying it at the moment but in the end it's a personal opinion but I'd say it's a must own for the Wii.
Graphics : 8 <--Let down for the beginning and some slight jagging
Sound : 9 <--No complaints, great additions, great lines, "'Strawberry on the Shortcake!'
Controls : 8 <--Good use of gestures, not overdone
Difficulty : 7 <--Can depend on whether you've upgraded your weapon and how good you are
I loved it. The fighting is pretty repetitive, but still fun, I think. Especially when you get different beam katanas and wrestling moves. And the boss fights are awesome.
I'd say it's worth buying, definitely. Obviously not the best game, but still fun. And if you live in the US, you get the version with lots of blood, instead of the PAL version with black smoke.

I played it a little more and it went from a 6/10 to a 7.3/10. It's entertaining but the polish on the game is horribly lacking. It feels like there were great ideas that were amateurishly executed. I would describe it as a 3D viewtiful joe in its style.
