i got a hold of a Wii about a month and a 1/2 ago and have been very disappointed with the game selection to say the least. it seems that all the games that get the best ratings are either ports from other systems or games that in no way, shape or form use the Wii's innovative controls. from what i've found, the included Wii Sports is the best at integrating the controls, but it's so thin on content, it's almost frustrating.
that being said, i am a sports fan and was wondering if there are any bowling, baseball, tennis or golf games on the horizon that actually utilize the Wii controls? especially a good bowling (i hear Brunswick Bowling and the other one are garbage) or baseball game (from what i understand, the current ones out there are ports from other systems and swinging the Wii remote is essentially the same as hitting a button--no sensitivity like in Wii Sports Baseball).
anyway, sorry for the semi-rant, i was really excited about finally getting a Wii (i actually had never played one before i got mine) and was surprised that after being on the market for ~1.5 years, there really aren't that many good games for it. if i want a gaming console that uses the "normal" controls, i'll fire up my Xbox 360...i got the Wii because of its original controls.
I'd suggest Carnival Games. It has fun games like dart throwing, hoop shooting, strength testers, skee-ball, milk-bottle knocking over. A lot of them are really good and you could probably find something worth playing on there with pretty good wii controls. Tons of games.
WiiPlay is another, with my favoring being a flourescent air hockey game.
Also remember that the motion controls aren't the only innovative control on the Wii. There's also the IR sensor on the wiimote which makes shooting games like Metroid Prime excellent.
Yeah it's definitely worth looking into. Also Mario Kart is coming out next week and I hear the motion controlled steering is great fun, it will come with a steering wheel.
If you want games that utilize the Wii controls well then take a look at these..
