Nintendo: U.S. WiiWare Schedule Will Be More Staggered

Quote:
One more tidbit from Wired's meeting with Nintendo executives this morning: Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that the U.S. schedule of WiiWare games will be more spread out than the Japanese launch.

When WiiWare launched in Japan a month ago, nine games were made available for the service all at once. But nothing came out for WiiWare for the four weeks afterwards, until one more game, Minna de Puzzloop, was released on April 22.

Fils-Aime said that in the U.S., WiiWare releases would likely follow the Virtual Console model, meaning a staggered release schedule of a few games per week, rather than a whole bunch at once followed by a month-long dry spell.

Nintendo has not yet said what games will launch with the service when WiiWare goes live on May 12, but today's comments suggest that it won't be as many titles as we originally thought.
