I'm really impressed with this game. It would have to be one of my favourite Wii games. Luck is only a factor on the simple courses, playing Rainbow Road is a blast!
yeeah!! Rainbow road is a blast.. but man... i dont know if i will ever be able to make a lap without falling over I love this game..... and i agree.. you need to master the wheel..... Using the controller is def. the easy way to play this game.....
I just need to learn how to play better and get each track's secrets down. I've only had it a day so... heh.
Currently playing with the wheel. It's fun.
Not the best game ever, but certainly a great casual party game. Much better than SSBB, and more action as a party-game than MP8.

yeah I think anyone can be good at using the GC/classic. The wheel is very challenging. I cant tell you how many times i go off a jump sideways and hold the wheel the opposite way so when i land I can correct my self and then I over turn and it thrown around ><. or try to trick off a jump and it turns my cart and fly off course lol. I have about 6300 points online atm, but If i decided to switch to a gc/classic I could probably have a lot more.
PS: Play Worldwide instead of region for the ulitmate challege! People in Japan have had this game SO much longer and when you have to face one of them with 9-10k points...wow they are pretty dang good ^_^.
I'll stick with my more precise controller, thank you. I think of the Wheel as an optional bonus.

Luck is a factor in every race, it's just that some courses are more about luck than others (e.g. Luigi Circuit, Sherbet Land, etc.).

I picked up mine at 9:15 am at the Gamestop where I pre-ordered it. The wife and I played for an hour or so until the Talladega race party we hosted. After the race, I got some of the guys that showed up to play. One of their kids brought his WiiMote and Steering wheel from home for some three player racing. We had a lot of fun. My shoulders a bit sore today.
I am little disappointed in Battle Kart though. I don't know if I like the team concept so much. I only played SNES Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, so it's been a while. I thought Battle Kart didn't have any computer controlled players?
I haven't unlocked any course yet, so I guess I'll have to make some time to do that. I don't know if I really want to unlock Rainbow Road. I always hated that course.
I was in first for the final 2 laps on Shy Guy Beach last night. On the last turn one of the ships blew me up, then got hit with a red shell, hit an umbrella. Finshed 11/12

When facing the computer, I purposefully stay in 12th for along time, wait for a bullet bill or star, get in 1st or 2nd, then use it. I never lose to CPUs.

[quote=ssbb_loverAtomheart: Out of curiosity, what makes someone using a GC/Classic controller a noob? Just because Nintendo packaged the wheel with the game doesn't mean it's supposed to be played that way.[/QUOTE]
It doesn't make a person a noob, but I do think the game was meant to be played with the Wii wheel. If not, the wheel wouldn't have been an option. Sure, they gave users the other options so people wouldn't whine and complain. But it's pretty obvious the wheel is the way they want most people to play the game.
^ Of course most people use the wheel it's free and comes with the game.
I prefer to use the GC controller. The wheel is ok but a bit imprecise.
Love the game so far, just started and I got 5400 points for online VS.

I recently got a PS3. Loving it. Still love my Wii.
Mario Kart 64 = Greatest Game Ever
GTA4 = 2nd
MKWii = 3rd
World ends with you = 4th
My opinion.
Also, I feel the wheel makes the game pretty easy, as well as auto turning. Call me cheap if you want, but thats the only way I can beat 150cc.

You know what? I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong. I can be a man and admit it.
I was wrong. I am beginning to hate the wheel. I want to like the wheel, and if it were accurate I would prefer it. But it's not. I can only take so many times of turning right only to have the wheel turn me left and into a wall or off a cliff before I get fed up and decide that my score is more important. Good idea, bad implementation. Blue shells piss me off enough as it is, but randomly losing because the wheel can't figure out what I'm asking it to do is intolerable. Hell, I often find myself struggling with it just to get it to figure out I'm trying to turn at all.
This all came from a concentrated and focused effort last night to get better with MK, practicing with time trials and such. I tried switching to remote+nunchuk and did a lot better. I'm still not ready for you though, Emma.

i will agree that being in first place is very frustrating...i haven't played mario kart since n64 so maybe this isn't new to this game, but that damn squid/octopus/sperm thing that craps on your windshield has got to be the most annoying thing ever ...i have only played for about 4 hours so far but i am pretty happy with the wheel, it did take some getting used to and i have found that to have the most accurate stearing i need to hold the wheel perfectly vertical, otherwise the stearing is not that good...overall i am pretty impressed so far...the only thing that would make this game 1000 times better would be the ability to chat during online gameplay...but me and my friends fixed that by using skype
