Just thought it would be cool to have a place to put all of the information we gather from mario kart.

HERE'S WHAT I HAVE SO FAR.

Q-HOW DO I THRUST FORWARD AT THE START OF A RACE?
A-DURING THE COUNTDOWN WAIT UNTIL THE CLOCK HITS 2 AND HOLD DOWN THE ACCELERATOR BUTTON...THIS TAKES SOME PRACTICE.

Q-HOW DO I STOP THE RED TURTLE SHELLS FROM HITTING ME?
A-ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HAVE A BANANNA (1 OR SET OF 3) AND THROW IT BEHIND YOU WHEN THE ALARM STARTS TO GO OFF.

Q-HOW DO I HIT SOMEONE WITH LIGHTNING?
A-ONCE YOU OBTAIN A LIGHTNING ZAPPER, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS BUMP THE RIDER OF YOUR CHOUSE TO ZAP THEM AND MAKE THEM SMALL.

Q-HOW DO I DO TRICKS ON MY KART DURING JUMPS?
A-WELL ON THE CLASSIC CONTROLLER ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS USE THE DIRECTIONAL PAD, WHEN YOU HIT THE JUMP AND YOUR IN THE AIR YOU JUST HIT UP OR DOWN OR LEFT OR RIGHT FOR DIFFERENT TRICKS.Q-HOW DO I POP A WHEELIE ON A BIKE?
A-ON A CLASSIC CONTROLLER YOU JUST PUSH UP ON THE DIRECTIONAL PAD.

Q-WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "AUTOMATIC" AND "MANUAL"
A-AUTO, DRIFTS YOU INTO TURNS AUTOMATICALY. MAN, YOU HAVE TO CONTROL AND CORNERING AND DRIFTING INTO CURVES YOURSELF ETC.

Q-How do you dodge a damn spiny/blue shell?
A-Keep a mushroom and when the blue shell is over you to finally hit you, use it. You will get out of the explosion. Timing is critical.

Q-HOW DO I CLEAR MY SCREEN OF A OIL SPLASH?
A-YOU CANT, BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT GO AWAY QUICKER BUY USING A MUSHROOM BOOST.

OTHER UNLOCKABLES:

Unlockable: Mirror Class
To unlock the Mirror Class, win all of the available 150cc Cups in the game.

Unlockable: Bikes on 50cc Cup Races
To unlock the ability to drive bikes in 50cc cup races, earn all of the trophies on each 50cc cup race.

Unlockable: Victory Photos
To unlock both victory photos available in the game (which is basically a shot of your Mii with various characters), you have to fulfill two requirements. To unlock the first photo (which is of your Mii with Mario and Peach), earn a trophy in every cup for each class available. To unlock the second photo (which is of your Mii with each racer in the game), win each and every Grand Prix cup available in the game.

Unlockable: Medium Bikes
To unlock the medium bikes listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Dolphin Dasher - Win the Mirror Star Cup
Nitrocycle - Attain at least a one star ranking in all 100cc Wii Grand Prix cup races
Rapide - Win the 100cc Lightning Cup

Unlockable: Small Karts
To unlock the small karts listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Blue Falcon - Win the Mirror Lightning Cup
Cheep Charger - Earn at least a one star ranking in all 50cc Retro Cup races
Rally Romper - In Time Trial mode, unlock the expert staff ghost data record

Unlockable: Small Bikes
To unlock the small bikes listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Bubble Bike - Win the Mirror Leaf Cup
Magikruiser - Play Time Trial Mode on any eight courses
Quacker - Win the 150cc Star Cup
Addition from mr caspartt

Unlockable: Karts on 100cc Cup Races
To unlock the ability to drive karts in 100cc cup races, earn all of the trophies on each 100cc cup race.

Unlockable Medium Karts;
To unlock the medium karts listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Royal Racer - Win the 150cc Leaf Cup
Turbo Blooper - Win the 50cc Leaf Cup

Unlockable: Cups. To unlock the cups listed below, fulfill the requirements listed. Keep in mind that the requirements are the same for each CC type on the circuits listed.

Leaf Cup - Earn trophies in the Shell Cup and Banana Cup
Lightning Cup - Earn a trophy in Leaf Cup
Special Cup - Earn a trophy in Star Cup
Star Cup - Earn trophies in the Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup

Unlockable: Alternate Title Screen
To unlock an alternate title screen that will be shown when the game is started up, win each and every cup available in the game.

Unlockable: Large Bikes
To unlock the large bikes listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.
Phantom - Win the Mirror Cup
Torpedo - Unlock twelve Expert Staff ghost data in Time Trial mode
Twinkle Star - Win the 100cc Star Cup

Unlockable: Large Karts
To unlock the large karts listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Aero Glider - Earn at least a one star ranking in each 150cc Retro Grand Prix races
Dragonetti - Win the 150cc Lightning Cup
Piranha Prowler - Win the 50cc Special Cup

Unlockable: Characters
To unlock the characters listed below, fulfill the requirements listed.

Baby Daisy - Earn at least a one star ranking in each 50cc Wii Grand Prix cup races
Baby Luigi - Unlock eight Expert Staff ghost data in Time Trial mode
Birdo - Defeat 250 people in online racing, or play Time Trial mode on sixteen different courses
Bowser Jr. - Earn at least a one star ranking in each 100cc Retro Grand Prix cup races
Daisy - Win the 150cc Special Cup
Diddy Kong - Win the 50cc Lightning Cup
Dry Bones - Win the 100cc Leaf Cup

Well... you should say how to do the tricks with the Wheel.

I'll add this:

By "play through and complete" the TTs, do you mean defeat the "fast" staff ghost in all 32 races?

EDIT: Never mind; I had my own question answered. Unlock the fast ghost for all 32.

Wow, that' just been spreading everywhere!
There is no outfit c, wiinintendo just got some bad information and it's spread to lots of forums, but it's not true.

Jondeak, you ROCK for posting that. Thanks a million! Consider your reputation added to (now I have to say something else at the end of this sentence, cuz mom always said never end a sentence with a preposition). Just promise me never to use yellow font again, that's too hard to read.

I was just wondering, it took me a couple hours of play before unlocking Rosalina. Do you have to do something else too, other than having an SMG file on the Wii? Already done it, I just don't know what I did.

Also, it said I unlocked a new kart, but it doesn't show up under all the players yet. In fact, it only showed up under unlocked characters (so far I've only unlocked Diddy Kong and Rosalina, yes I suck). Will it show up under more characters in due time, if I just keep playing? All my batteries are dead and currently in the charger! Waaaahh!

Thanks for the Blue Shell trick! That damn shell is evil. There are other ways to glitch out the shell. Certain track features like the cannon jump will void out a blue shell in transit.

A really cruel trick in battle mode is to get a giant mushroom, stop in a corridor and wait for an opponent to drive toward you. Use the rear view mirror, back up into them while activating the mushroom to seal the deal. A mistake in Battle mode is to outright shadow an opponent. Once they grab an item they can nail you first since they are in front. Instead drive a circular pattern where you are sure to meet them head on. Make sure you have a better item than them. Most players do not check their mini map enough in battle mode.

How to lessen the effect of a Pow Block

It requires you to be using a bike. But right when the last blast starts activate your wheelie and it will only have you drop your items and not slow down.

Yeah I just figured this out a few days ago on accident, it helps alot!
