I may be a newb to the Wii, but I'm excited about the potential that the upcoming WiiWare has. I was reading about it in the Game Informer mag that we were given when we bought the Wii. Here's the online part of it:
http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Sto...1643.50298.htm
I'm so stoked about StrongBad! There are a couple of games mentioned in the magazine that looked really interesting too. I wish there was more info one when games will be added and how much they'll cost but apparently the big N is keeping all of that quiet.
I like unique, creative games that are more than just FPS or standard adventure games. For example I'm totally addicted to Trauma Center right now. I'm hoping that a lot of indie game developers take advantage of WiiWare and put out more unique games. I figure there's a lot less to loose by putting a game on WiiWare than publishing it on a disk.
What do you guys think? Are you interested in WiiWare or is it not so important to you? Are you looking forward to any games in particular?

Wiiware looks really cool. Most importantly though, Wiiware has a lot of potential for M games. Nintendo may shun the production of them, but wiiware has a lot of freedom. 2 or 3 M rated wiiware games have alrady been anounced.
I'm looking forward to:
Defend your Castle
Animales de la muerte
LastFlight (though it doesn't come out until 2009)
(I am aware that defend your castle is not rated M)
oh yeah, games will be between 500 and 1500 Wii points. Wiiware will release in the US on May 12.

Oh, I didn't know they were allowing more M games! That's awesome. Although I'm surprised they're ok with M games via anonymous download but not in stores that actually check your age. I guess it's more of an image thing than actually wanting to restrict M games to adults.

I'm so excited for WiiWare. I'm looking forward to buy the game Final Fantasy: My life as a king. We only got about 10 more days.

WiiWare looks pretty epic, I hope Nintendo releases some addicting games such as Microsoft released Geometry Wars for the XBLA. I'm sure WiiWare will be a hit! Cannot wait!

There is definitely the potential for some excellent games. I've got my eye on Lost Winds, the Crystal Chronicles, World of Goo, Defend Your Castle, and maybe Strongbad.

WiiWare will be awesome.
Just think of all the people who have great game concepts but don't have enough financial backing or can't attract a publisher in order to get their game out. With WiiWare they will get the chance as it costs as little as $2000 to get a game on there. Back in the 8bit computing days a lot of talent appeared because anyone could write a game on a system and i can see WiiWare nurturing new talent in the same way. Today's WiiWare developer could well turn out to be tomorrow's Bioware or Infinity Ward.
Hopefully WiiWare will also push DLC forward on the Wii too, with several titles already confirming the feature.

Wii-ware sadly have one thing that makes me raise a eye-brow. Micro-transactions.
If your not familiar with the term, let me give you this simple break down.
Imagine that you buy a game, let say the new Crystal Chronicle title announced on the Wii-ware. You have basic buildings, basic villagers, dungeons to garner money to build your village. Everything goes fine, until some of your villagers ask for things that are not in-game. A bakery, a forge and such. You'll be set to buy these building with your money to increase the content of your game. A building, one dollar, a dungeon, 5 dollars and henceforth. The game maybe 15 bucks, but if you enter the little dirty trick of micro-transaction thing, you'll end up paying 100$ + for a game that's not even worth that.

Yeah, but I've only heard of microtransactions for that one game so far. And I plan on waiting to download any until at least the first couple reviews come in. The ones I'm most interested in are probably the least likely to have microtransactions- Strongbad, Pop, Goo, and etc. There might be a lot of people willing to shell out more money for a Final Fantasy game but I doubt they'll expect people to pay much for new IPs.

I never knew they did that in the game, I wasn't gonna get it anyway. It seems like the penguin rpg game.

There are a few things I'd like to know about wiiware.
Will there be any Nintendo titles?
Will wiiware be released every monday, or any day of the week?
The max size for a wiiware title is about 40 MB, right? How many blocks would that be?

The main goal of WiiWare is to let smaller third party take place into the realm of video game with a platform that is less money taking than XBLA. We will probably (I wish) see Castle Crashers.

I'm mostly excited for fun multiplayer games. Not really interested in Final Fantasy, I might give lost winds a try if its not too expensive. I have about 3600 points waiting, will have to see what is worth getting though.
Its always exciting when something new comes out for the wii, regardless of whether I buy it or not, its cool reading about new things.
