Endless Ocean scares the hell out of me.
I'm absolutely terrified of the ocean, especially extreme depths and darkness underwater.
Needless to say, when I was playing last night and had to explore "The Abyss," I was not amused.
I almost had a heartattack.
I suppose that means the developers have created a great game in its own right, though!

Yeh, I have the same problem sometimes, I always get freaked and think that there might be some random shark that comes out of no where. Try doing it in real life, my first night dive.....The ocean suddenly got warmer.

Agreed @ david. All those things scared the hell out of me, too.
To further my terror, the song that was playing during The Abyss was the orchestrated one that has a HUGE crescendo at one part. Ugh.

Ha, you're not alone Linux, I can't stand Deep dark water. In any game I've played, I've always dreaded heading into water areas.

For real.
Even in Mario 64, any of the water levels with deep parts creeped the hell out of me.

Have you gotten to see the Goblin Shark or the Magu Tapa? Those are some creepy looking fish.
The game isn't really scary, but it does set the mood well.

It's actually supposed to be more effective if you stick your thumb in their eyes. But then again, when you're getting tossed around by a shark, thinking straight probably isn't on the agenda...

I have a belief that this game was modeled after a PS1 game called "Treasures of the Deep" and missions like Mariana's Treanch and "The Burmuda Triangle" were a little frightening and even more so compared to Endless Ocean.

Just remember the great scuba truth .... you do not need to swim faster than the shark.
You just need to swim faster than your buddy!

LOL, I'm so glad someone posted this! My husband was really laughing at me for being freaked out by the abyss - especially that damn creepy music they play down there! You want to really scare yourself, get way down deep in there swim up to one of those great big sharks, and give him a poke (touch him once instead of petting him). He will whirl around and turn on you like "STOP IT!" Ohhhhhh how that scared the crap out of me!
A lot of the animals down there are not real friendly either, I pet them and pet them and they never want to reveal what they are. Feeding them doesn't seem to work well in the abyss either, maybe I need to bring down some special "dark creepy fish" food.
The game is so good . . . it says a lot about it that something like that can really creep out so many of us! Especially in a game where it is universally acknowledged that you can't get hurt and nothing bad can happen to you. I know that and it STILL gives me the willies to swim down in the abyss.
You know what else was kinda weird - after returning from a night dive, there was a polar bear hanging out on the boat! In any other world, a polar bear on your boat deck would be cause for some alarm. Instead, you're like "Ok, gotta go pet the polar bear so I can add him to my book."
