Okay, I am about to cancel my Gamefly membership (I have a ton of fun games right now, probably won't need to rent much for a few months). But before I do, I have some discount rewards built up so I want to use them to buy a used game before I cancel! I've bought their used games before and the quality is excellent so I'm not worried about that, just worried about what I will be able to play. I'm mainly concerned that I have a VERY low skill level and am easily frustrated! My favorite games right now are Endless Ocean, Thrillville, SMG, and Mario Kart (of course). So anyway, here are my options and concerns . . .

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - I have the Zapper and LOVE rail shooters, but have never followed the RE franchise so the old locations & characters mean nothing to me. Still fun? More fun than House of the Dead? The horrible ancient cutscenes were too distracting for me in that one.

No More Heroes - heard great reviews and it looks cool, but I'm concerned about my low skill level particularly at this one. I don't really get better at games after practicing, I'm just uncoordinated! Is it too hard?

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - this looks fun and gets good reviews, but I generally play alone (live in the middle of nowhere and the Wii is not online). Is it any fun at all to play solo?

There are others available, but those are the main ones I'm interested in and they are pretty good deals! Thanks in advance for your advice!

Well, based on your preferences, I'd think that the Olympics game would be your best bet. However, since you play alone, I don't know how much longevity it'll have. So since you like rail shooters, I suppose I'd recommend Resident Evil of those three.

But you're really looking at three very mediocre Wii games. Have you played Zelda yet? You might like Zack and Wiki too. Mario Strikers is fun too, if you can play online.

You are correct, I'm not online (not with the Wii anyway). Also, Zelda and Z&W are not available used from Gamefly. Zelda was way too hard for me, if that gives you an idea of my skill level. I rented it and couldn't get through the training missions!

I do also like Metroid and Super Paper Mario. I'm terrible at Metroid, but I still dig it!

I'd avoid Mario and Sonic Olympics. It can get frustrating playing alone. Some events are really easy (running, trampoline) and you win the gold the first time. Others are very hard (table tennis, hammer throw) and the computer pounds you. I haven't found a middle ground yet. With most games, repetition improves your skill level, with this one, I haven't seen that as much.

Thanks Sbarrett4! That is very good to know. I'll cross that off my list (and add to your rep!).

The lack of enthusiasm for any of these games is making me wonder if I should just save my $20 and put it toward something like Boom Blox - that looks awesome. I thought maybe I'd get a good deal on a fun game before backing out of GameFly, but it won't be much of a good deal if I never wanna play it!

I can't comment on RE:UC. It looks good but i know there are some nasty spiders in it and i barely could handle them in the first RE (i'm very arachnaphobic so i always had to shut my eyes and hope i didn't run into a wall).

No More Heroes would probably be a bit hard for you, if you struggled at Zelda

Mario & Sonic at the Olympics should be within your skill level (it's almost more physical than skill) but it isn't really a great game to play alone.

Out of the 3 i'd have to say RE:UC would probably be your best bet.

Have you tried Rayman Raving Rabbids or My Sims? They might suit you.

Actually I did like both of those! Rayman wasn't available used, it was fun when we rented it though. OMG the bunny dance during "Good Times" will linger in my mind forever!

My Sims was fun, I received it as a gift. I played it during every waking hour for about a week, and then it sat there unplayed for a few months. It was really cute and very easy, but I just didn't feel like going back to a "kids" game after a while (I'm 35). Which is ridiculous when you consider that any 5 year old could kick my butt in just about any game out there.

Hmmm, so far a couple of ya think RE:UC might suit me, which is one I almost bought on its release day! So many have disliked it since it debuted, though. Rail shooters were always my favorite at the arcade, and there just doesn't seem to be a super fun one for the Wii yet despite its light gun capabilities. I've wasted many many many hours blasting away at Link's Crossbow Training and it doesn't seem to get old! Lotsa shooting at stuff, no superfluous cutscenes to slow me down.

Hmmmm . . . now I'm leaning toward getting RE:UC just because I don't see any other good rail shooters in development. On the other hand, it'll be easier to convince my husband to let me get Boom Blox if I don't buy any other new games right now. I'm eager to hear what real users think once that debuts tomorrow!

Well not to confuse you...but Mario & Sonic Olympics isn't hard, although I agree with table tennis. Hammer throw is easy once you get the timing down. I keep getting world and olypic records on that one. It is pretty physical. I also think it's pretty fun playing solo. I don't know anyone to play against online.

just wondering what it is exactly that you find makes a game 'difficult'?

if that was more clear i think it may be easier to make suggestions..
