Mario 64 was already frantic, anymore and it's just insane.

Sounds like you need to log out, take your Wii to computer store and trade it for a PS3 or 360.

I've been around since the SNES days, and I love the game. I think its a huge improvement, especially over double dash.

What do you people mean ... `early days of gaming'?
I mean, I'm born in 1970, Atari's first console came out when I was in first grade. AFAIK, that's the early days.
So unless you grew up before the early 80's ... you're at least second-generation gamers.
FWIW, I love this game. Yes, it's not the old version, it's a new version. Just because you're not used to it, don't like the wheel, etc etc ... that's your hang-up, not the game's. I for one am happy to be playing a new version vs. a decade old version [good or not] ... and find that the game still captures as much or more `fun' than prior incarnations.
That's what this about, fun ... not trying to validate your empty soul [which evidently $$ and floozy women don't, if you're upset about a video game].
But unless you're rounding on 40, you were not into console gaming early.

I've been playing Mario Kart since the SNES days, and it's always been about luck to a certain extent. Sure, the skillful players always seem to make a comeback, but luck has and always will be involved in a Mario Kart game. The luck has hurt me at times, and it's helped me at times. It's just part of it.
The online in this game makes it the best Mario Kart ever!

^ Mario 64 had a good degree of skill though. Lots of tactics could be used.

The biggest change in the game is the extra four drivers.
That's four more items coming your way.
That's why its so out of balance.
Also, drifting is NOT perfect in this game.

Yes. I think it's a combination of the words + the avatar that give it away.

There IS too much luck involved, but I really like the trick system and the new courses, they make the game pretty good. Like IGN said in the review: you are always going to have gripes with games but in the end they are still fun most of the time. -or something of that effect.
I do get mad at the game sometimes.
The game definitely isn't bad though, I disagree that is sucks.

Hmm, I think the OP's opinions are being blown out of proportion by the way he spoke. I think he does have valid points, but the way in which he expressed them, people don't like, therefore automatically disagreeing more so than if he made them in an arguable manner. As he's already admitted, the title didn't do much help.
But for those that look beyond the unnecessary personal details, and the initial 'bashing' if you like of the title, then he does make some completely fair points. I do think a lot, and probably too much, luck is involved in this game. Of course, at the end of the day, the better players do come out on top, but the risk in getting hit right at the end if you have a higher score is quite punishable, which can be a bit unfair really if you've dominated the race.
I know that the game doesn't necessarily have to be fair, I guess it can just be very frustrating sometimes. But that being said, I do thoroughly enjoy it and will continue playing it. I do feel though that the original Super Mario Kart, and maybe Mario Kart 64, felt more competitive, whereas this is somewhat more fun in ways.< | |
