Boo! I've noticed that far and far less people are using the wheel trying to compete with the non-wheel users. Honestly, I've tried both and have way more fun with the wheel. Granted, the wheel isn't as precise, but it is way more fun, IMO. I wish there was an option to ONLY race wheel users or both because as much as I love using the wheel, I hate losing and am afraid I may have to give up my favorite part of the game just to stay competitive with all the controller users out there
I agree, there should be an option to race with wheel only users.
I race to unlock stuff with wiimote+nunchuck but when I play online I use the wheel on automatic. It actually controls quite nicely and I usually keep up or am in first most of the race(then usually get screwed over by a barrage of shells)

IMO, the wheel is just as effective as non-wheel controls. Thers no dis-advantage. I regularly win games online, while using the wheel against non-wheel users.
I'll say what I've said many times before: I'm having more fun without the wheel. I only bought MK Wii for the online mode, I never cared much for the wheel in the first place.

I'm a 100 % wheel user.
still I don't do cheats neither.
I get more pleasure from beating people fairly or not at all.
You can keep your cheats.
That's my opinion.
You can have yours.
Good luck in what you choose.

I don't believe there are any cheats in Mario Kart. At least if there are they shouldn't work online.
In either case I used the wheel for the first couple days then I switched because I found I'd make silly mistakes with the wheel and it would really frustrate me when I lost because of an input error or overcorrected steering. The wheel was fun but it was getting to the point where the frustration of going from first to 9th due solely to the wheel was ruining the experience for me. I switched and though I occasionally look back and wonder whether it was the right decision, I enjoy myself with or without the wheel and winning is always more fun.
I always have respect for those with a golden wheel online who also have huge VR rating. Having tried the wiimote / nunchuk and getting quicker times with it I found myself longing to use the wheel again and switched back. The wheel isn't as easy to master, but it engenders a greater sense of 'fun' in those who like using it.
Personally I don't care what controller anyone uses .. .. .. so long as you all keep going online so that I can play you and win occasionally .. .. .. that's all I care about.
The wheel is more precise. The problem is dexterity. You are relying on more of your body. The result is a higher requirement of concentration. If the Wiiwheel had a stand you could place it on, it would be perfect.

Ditto. Granted, I've only played twice online, finishing 3rd both times (I have e 17-4 record), but using the wheel didn't put me at a disadvantage even though half the racers I faced were wheel-less.
Also, I've been doing just fine on the Grand Prix aspect of the game with the wheel. 50cc was very easy, having earned seven two-stars and one one-star rankings. 100cc has been a little tougher, but I've gotten three one-stars and five "A" rankings thus far, although I haven't spent much time trying that level. I haven't gotten to 150cc or 150cc mirror, yet.
Anyway, I'm of the opinion that players should use whatever works for them. If 90% of the racers out there don't use the wheel for a competitive advantage, then so be it. The other 10% of us will simply get more joy out of earning our single player and online rankings, and using the Wii technology for what we purchased it for.

Considering how random the outcome of Mario Kart is, anecdotal cases of placing first with the wheel are no evidence of its accuracy, or proof that it is as good or better than using other forms of control.
